Advice on a medium feeder, winklepicker, light Avon type rod. Rivers.

Looking to purchase as above, but not a fan of multiple push in quivers, so a old donkey type set up would be great. Something that would be good for smaller species and up to Chub? I have due to age.... a stack of rods including some old JW's Avons, and the original green blank model I have dug out, and would be the ideal rod on a lighter blank. The quiver section is long and sensitive.
Most of the rods I see are multi tips for commercials mainly.
Cheers.

If you can find one the Shakespeare Ganza 12 ft specialist Avon is a nice rod . I bought a new old stock one off E bay £30 ,C/W Avon top with threaded end eye and a quiver tip top section

If it's for quiver-tipping Neil (i.e. to be use with rest rests), what do you want from the rod that an old JW Avon can't/won't give you? Why do you want to add to your "stack" when a JWA would seem the ideal 'tool'?
I know I know....and my old JW has the addition of a screw down reel seat, a long quiver, perhaps too long and slow. The perfect tool would be a 'bomb' type rod that would faster tip action.

I echo Terrys question? The John Wilson Avon is a sensational chub rod.
If your after specifically a built in spliced quiver tip rod for the job (I get that because I also think they are nicer) then your options are extremely limited and probably big money custom build.

I was given recently a nomark fast feeder which is a lovely rod If you can find one. It doesn’t have a quiver tip at all it’s just a 3 piece rod with a very sensitive tip but all one section. Very strange feeder rod that works Essentially just like a long spliced (donkey) top

As said his has a proper reel seat too.I have got somewhere in the loft an old bomb rod, East Anglia Rod Co if I remember right, swapped it for a mint Mitchell Match, wasn't my best deal as it had a broken tip....Like the idea of your Normark, if you ever....;)

I’ve not actually used the normark yet so I can’t sing it’s praises too highly but I really love the concept. It’s a 3 section 11’6 rod just like a match rod but the tip section despite being all one piece and hollow carbon right through is very sensitive just like a quiver rod.
No stated Test curves or tip casting weight so it’s going to be a suck it and see.
From the general feel of it I’d say it’s good for a couple of ounces and soft enough to land chub, perch, small tench etc.
worth having a look out for one I suppose. Dunno what sort of money they fetch mind.

Preston Carbonactive 12ft 6” -if you can find one !

Comes with three different tip sections.

I found one a few months ago; I may actually use it today……..

Some old Tricast rods eg Trophy series would work too.
Those preston asaki feeder rods with the 3 full length top sections with 1,2 and 3oz tips are the nuts,I bought an 11ft 6" rod few years ago.Loverly action with zero flat spots.

Sounds just the job, will search around for one, you got some very generous benefactors.:)

Shimano has had a propensity to produce spliced quiver feeder/specialist rods The last I saw were probably the Aerocast Feeder rods (light, medium and heavy variations), which had three different full tip sections each. The Beastmaster/Speedmaster Commercial tip rods of similar vintage also had full tip sections. However, I believe that the current top line Aero X7 Feeder rods are in a similar vein.

If you wanted to push the boat out and make an investment( that's how I sell it to Mrs R) I can utterly recommend a 1.25 Torrix with spliced in tip
OK it's not for small silver fish but for chub it is perfect - sensitive as you want it to be in the tip and as much backbone as you want if that special fish turns up and wants to take you into a snag
I've used mine most of the season for barbel too as I got a spare carrier section that will take standard drennan tips and can go from 1.5oz to 4" and just adjust to the flow to be honest.
But the 2oz spliced tip is sublime.
Carbonactives are very nice and Cadence do some lovely feeder/ specialist rods and there might be deal on?

Thanks for taking the time Paul Chris and all, some great advice. I have had a look around for the Normark and there was one, but the whipping on the guides had blown, and he wanted £200. The Cadence are looking the job, bit steep at £200, I would find a bit of difficulty in persuading the Harrison to the missus it was an investment, she has a shed full and loft full of investments already.
I have 'tooled' up the old Wilson Avon, with a baby Stradic, 6lb line and hopefully will give it a go tomorrow.
Last couple of sessions I have been using smaller baits maggots and punched bread and really enjoyed it, had a variety of species, including a pb Perch. The quiver rod of choice was the Fox Plus quiver top, which was OK but felt a bit dead with the smaller fish.
Of course you know what will happen now, bound to hook up with a big Barbel and get the runaround...

You must of properly twisted his arm to get him to do that joe. I always thought Dave was very Harrison only and not into rebuilding
I've had him do various repairs and mods over the years, as well as building me a few rods. I think it helps that I'm able drop stuff off in person and collect in person, and that because I fish for lots of species, I'm not desperate to get rods back asap and therefore on the phone pestering! If it take him 4 months then so be it. Very nice bloke is Mr Lumb.

Off subject but I’ve got a Mk1 armalite 13’ not sure of the TC but a lovely big pit pike rod
I gave £20 for it 🤣👍
Could do with re- ringing and ‘pimping’ so might email DL and see if he’ll have a look if I drop it in as I’m in Preston every month
He builds great rods
