Was on R.Wye last week, used an 14' Acolyte Specimen float most of the week, had everything from small chub upto barbel 8lb plus . Really good rod for the money.

When hemp is cooked, it gives off an aroma/ smell, which would be the answer to your question. Send me a sample, I'll do it. I think I'm qualified been cooking it since 1980's.

Soak and boil a sample ( pint) , before binning it. If it's been stored dry, should be ok.

Got the 12/14' one when they came out OK at 12', very tip heavy at 14'. Don't have it now. If you can have a look/waggle of one in a tackle shop make your own opinion.

As has been said any belt will do, but considering age and any back problems, it may be worth looking at back support wading belts.Simms do them at Simms prices, or Snowbee do them ( I use one), and find it beneficial when wading and fishing all day.
