Fjällraven are the best imo but expensive. Really hardwearing, cotton canvas type material. Breathable and can be waxed if you want to waterproof them. Will last you years
Yes i had a few bits as it was great quality along with a bit of stuff from ‘chub’ (i think) hopefully they have something new to offer with a quality to match. The carp luggage they do now is really heavy duty & good quality but doesnt seem to be quite right imho
Wychwood are (re) entering the ‘specialist’ market soon with some new luggage etc. Could be worth keeping an eye out for it and hopefully it will be well thought out gear and not just carp gear with a ‘specialist’ badge on it (although, what the difference is i cant decide 🤣)
My missus rolled...
Does the Reservoir have an undertow in strong winds?
I find that big stillwater roach seem to feed well with a good blow on the water. If the lake suffers from a serious undertow in strong wind even better! (Not all venues seem to get undertow for some reason but ‘bowl’ shaped waters seem to be...
Reminds me of my first ‘barbel’ i caught on a light tip rod when i was in my teens. I hooked into the monster and battled it for about 10 minutes, i shouted “BARBEL ON” and asked my mate to bring the ‘big’ landing net, by which time a small crowd had amassed behind me to witness the capture. I...
I love mine : It feels good in the hand, will double up into equal lengths and fit in a quiver with a bottom rod if I wanted to chop and change on the day.
You already said it all really! Does everything i’ve asked of it. Nice with small Roach, decent Chub & i’ve had the odd Pike to 14lb (while...
Just for info: not sure if this is a country wide ‘law’ but where i work you are supplied PPE (personal protective equipment) boots, gloves & safety specs etc. There is a scheme whereby you can order prescription safety specs (not widely offered as it costs the company but it’s available if you...
Thanks, i want them for bank fishing on large lakes so perhaps they’ll be well suited (all the reviews seem to think so). For boat & river i use my 10ft Drennan 2.75’s which are perfect and the price they are, i dont mind them getting knocked about on the boat or shoved through bushes on the...
Is there much difference in the .25lb extra? I’m tempted to go for the heavier ‘big baits’ version…..pity i can’t have a waggle locally. Sick of buying rods by description and having to buy replacements the following season. My experience is pushing me to step up but dont want a poker 🤷♂️
Ref: Pike Tamers.
I’m tempted to get a pair but have the 10ft ‘e’ class Carp rods which are lovely to use but feel slightly under gunned (more like 2.75’s?) but suit me for the smaller waters i fish. I also have the 12ft Barbel Tamers which again are lovely rods but feel like tank aerials...
I bought the Korda Kaizen green 42” net as it was unbelievably light (ridiculously light!) and expected it to not last long but it’s great!
Very strong, well made, really rigid (and i’ll say it again) weighs almost nothing 👍
I used to empty everything out of packets into lidded compartments in a tackle boxes but unless you label everything you’ve got you’re never sure of sizes etc when restocking. I now keep everything in the packets i buy them in and keep them in an EVA pouch. Easy to see what you’ve got and when a...
