Simon, You've got to remember, this is the man who thinks Mitchell's are good reels :) R.

    8th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

That sounds like a challenge to me! BTW, on the subject of the TRT, do I get to keep it if I win it again (3rd time in a row)? :) R.

    8th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

How about really pushing the boat out and going to the Dawnay? We could even include it in the draw - best Tommy peg on the river :)

    8th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

I called in last night and, while they are not officially selling food, they *are* doing food for eg. darts matches. So, if we can confirm numbers then they are prepared to put us on a bit of a spread. So, can we confirm who wants food? R.

    8th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

Have you been in the newly-furbished Horse yet? Are they doing food? Tell you what, I'll be popping in this evening so I'll check! R.

    8th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

Mike has asked me to post directions to the meet point, and to the post-match pub. We will be meeting here in the car park behind the Blacksmiths Arms, Newton-on-Ouse and eating + drinking here, at the Black Horse, Tollerton. R.

    Lunchtime!

The posting on Facebook was accompanied by this text: "Suspected something of interest was going on, but couldn't quite make out what through field glasses. Laid out in the overhang of a tree, local lake, almost fell in with suprise when this lovely lady popped up. Otter, jaws clamped firmly...

Came across this recently - superb picture: Taken at a lake near York, apparently. R.

    Fishing round Newark

...neither of which are anywhere near Newark? I must say, I didn't realise Collingham Weir was around that area. Might have to go and get in the queue for peg 1A :) R.

Robert, Whereabouts on the Wye? Near to Newark? R.

    Fishing round Newark

Not quite the sort of thing I'm looking for. That said, I've always got the Ouse or Derwent if I want a challenge :)

    So I believe - big, isn't it? Thanks, R.

    Fishing round Newark

So, looks like I'll be working in Newark very shortly. I believe there's a largish river in the area - I forget the name ;) My question: does Newark come under Tidal or Middle? I shall post any additional questions on the appropriate board. Thanks! R.

    7th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

Hi all, Mike has just called from the river bank. The Ouse has risen sharply overnight and is currently about 8-9 ft over NSL. The Newton stretch is fishable, just, but bring your big leads and smelly baits. See you all there at 12:00. R.

    7th Ousemeisters Barbel Challenge

The TRT is safe and well in my trophy cabinet - I will ensure it is transported safely to the hostelry after the day's antics. Oh, I'll be fishing, btw. :) R.

    A trip straight from hell.

Nice one! Brings back memories of my own (although I didn't see my rod/reel again!).

    Wanted

John, I might have something kicking around. I had all my gear nicked a couple of years ago but I think there might have been the odd tip section left behind. I'll have a look in the next few days and let you know. R.

Yup, those eneloop look pretty good. I quite like the look of the Pedal Juice 9V supply for guitar pedals, but at over £100 it's a bit pricey! R.

    head torch

Just a possibility, but some rechargeables do *not* hold their charge, ie. they will discharge over time even if just left on the shelf. That might be your problem? R.
