Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

The rig works well, had a couple including this 14lber which gave a fantastic fight - so the hook klips are fine. I have noticed they unclip when resting the fish in the landing net - so maybe they are a good safety feature too?

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

Which rig do you prefer Simon? I think the swivel mounted boilie version is too tight to the hook so you’ll get too many chub. i prefer the knotless knott version and use a boilie and a half so that it’s too much of a mouthful for most bream, and chub can have a pull on it before releasing when...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

They are small but they have to be really. They obviously make your hook longer when they’re covered by a kicker so you have to think about using a shorter hook. I think the perfect hook for me to use with them is a Ridgemonkey Curve size 6. With the hook klip and a kicker on it all comes out...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

Ah right - not quite the same as they don’t have the flattened area to take the knotless knot. After buying 20 different packets of hooks (genuinely!) and every tackle company’s kicker line aligner things I think I‘ve found a really good combination of bits to make this rig work really well...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I had my first barbel on a quick change hook rig last night. It was hooked dead centre in the bottom of the mouth. Probably coincidence but a good start none the less.

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I make rigs with 50cms of esp tungsten loaded coated braid each time. A 10m reel gets me 20 rigs. They are £10 a pop. I think I spent about £50 in September on 5 reels. I spend about £25 petrol every trip. It all adds up. The sharper the hook the more fish I find I catch so thats what works...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I can tie up my rig in the same time it takes me to get the fiddly kicker bit on so it’s not time that is the issue. The issue is I do waste loads of hooklength material as I basically change rig every cast - If I don’t catch anything I use 4 rigs per 24 hours on 2 rods. That’s not so bad. If...

    Rod advice please

Give Mark Tunley a call. 2.5lb dark carbons from Harrison’s are excellent rods that I use on the Thames.

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I think the important thing for us barbel folk compared to carpers is that we need to use a shorter shank hook for these to work ok. sounds like it would be useful. I thought I was bad getting through hooks!

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

KIS KISS is alway best for sure. I’ve not used a slip d type rig as I feel in a river with small fish and any flow there’s a chance it’s going to get shoved around too much.

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I’d prefer not to bait and wait but if you’ve ever fished low density rivers like the Loddon or Thames then there’s not much choice, if I was fishing a bite an hour then no problem with hook sharpening - although then I might not be bothered about sharpness so much if there were that many...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

How long do you leave your baits in the water for with filed hooks? I’m leaving mine 10-12 hours. I used to sharpen them myself but without the coating they do corrode and most packet hooks are now sharp enough - any sharper and fishing over gravel or stones can ruin the point pretty quick, so...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

Hook klip rig top and then a big size 6 curve hook below it. if you look at the top pic I’ve slipped a bit of green tubing on the hook to try and make the hair stick out at 90 degrees like you get with the KD style. Not sure that really works. But the kicker is tungsten so having a wafter on...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

yes I agree but obviously the kicker is a necessary element to cover the klip part up and secure it. Does it feel too big a rig with the kicker on? I’ve been experimenting with this actually. I’ve been using ridgemonkey size 6 medium curve hooks. They’re massively long and they turn...

Quick change hook rig - Korda Hook Klips

I‘ve been messing about with rigs for years and think the Korda hook klips might be the way to achieve a rig where you can swap the hook over quickly. I make a new rig up for every fish/recast as I’m wanting to keep a sharp hook in the water so these are potentially a great time and money...
