    Freespirit Pike Tamers

Ref: Pike Tamers. I’m tempted to get a pair but have the 10ft ‘e’ class Carp rods which are lovely to use but feel slightly under gunned (more like 2.75’s?) but suit me for the smaller waters i fish. I also have the 12ft Barbel Tamers which again are lovely rods but feel like tank aerials...

    Carp landing net

Just for info the solar tackle bow-lite is down to £69 tonight on total fishing tackle. Not used one but supposed to be a top net?

    Carp landing net

I bought the Korda Kaizen green 42” net as it was unbelievably light (ridiculously light!) and expected it to not last long but it’s great! Very strong, well made, really rigid (and i’ll say it again) weighs almost nothing 👍

    hook packets

I used to empty everything out of packets into lidded compartments in a tackle boxes but unless you label everything you’ve got you’re never sure of sizes etc when restocking. I now keep everything in the packets i buy them in and keep them in an EVA pouch. Easy to see what you’ve got and when a...

    Smart cast

I subscribed for a year just to get a headstart on the shared maps locally and save time but have noticed that when i use mine it overlays the info on to the existing map (as expected) but the depths and contours are totally different than what is already there?? I can imagine slight variations...

    Anguilla book by NAC

I find them fascinating and if i had a spare lifetime, i’d love to specialise in them but too much to do and my nightfishing days are over (pretty much!). I had a couple of seasons after them back in the day but only managed a few up to 6lb but glad i did

    Flavours for roach

Sounds like you’ve re-found the magical joy we all experienced when starting fishing but lose to some extent as we battle for larger fish. Enjoy it & make the most out of it. Canal fishing can be very good at times, especially now they are largely left alone thanks to commercials. I went on my...

    Fishflix Fishing Tv

Not up to the usual standard. I usually enjoy them, especially the Daniel Woolcott films. Good quality & interesting to watch. Young Alfie has caught some belting Perch tho!

    Anguilla book by NAC

Lucky to have just received my copy of the new book on Eels ‘Anguilla’ by the National Anguilla Club. What a book! The size of it warrants a mention to start with as its as thick as a phone book (600+ pages!) First impression, it must be one of the most comprehensive single species books ever...

    Black Friday deal Snugpak SJ9

I originally had the SJ but it was like a bomber jacket and rode up at the back when sat down. I’ve now got the FJ and can’t recommend it enough. From Oct - May, i never take it off (when fishing of course!). Just been the lakes and it was freezing with a 30mph wind and i was never cold. Just a...

    Flavours for roach

Pineapple does it for me! The old (90’s)10mm solar pineapple pop ups were a killer for Tench, Bream & Roach and have stuck to it ever since (N-butric acid type)

For you Drennan Vertex fans, i noticed that they have brought out a 15ft float rod. It’s on the Drennan Youtube channel (November 25 tackle launch)

How much are you prepared to spend…

No thanks, i don’t own any now. Never liked the LD’s either tbh. Get rid asap if i were you as the market for them is dying off (literally!). SX & TV’s were going for ridiculous amount's 10-15 years ago but none of the kids want them now. At some point the youngsters might pull their pants up...

How much are you prepared to spend…

That was the last photo of the day. We’d had really good, sunny weather all day the decided to have one last photo before the rain started and was caught just as i looked up and said “here comes the rain” Was a great day and consider myself a lucky lad. We’ve known each other since the age of 4...
