Black Friday deal Snugpak SJ9

I originally had the SJ but it was like a bomber jacket and rode up at the back when sat down. I’ve now got the FJ and can’t recommend it enough. From Oct - May, i never take it off (when fishing of course!). Just been the lakes and it was freezing with a 30mph wind and i was never cold. Just a T-shirt & sweatshirt underneath instead of thermals, T-shirts, jumpers, fleeces all piled up which you sweat in when carrying your gear. Excellent bit of kit and when matched with their marine jacket is unbeatable imho.
The only waterproof jacket i own that matches the marine for wind & waterproof (& yes, it beads!) is a £350 Mountain Equipment Goretex jacket so not bad value compared. Much better than the Berghaus Cornice that i previously have worn for the past 20+ years (3 different jackets over the time)

Just taken delivery of FJ6 jacket Nigel so certainly feels warm without being too bulky (won't be sat on the bank like Michelin Man). I know it's more a shower proof style of jacket rather than downpour style so I do have an outer layer waterproof shell that would cover that if needed.

What I would say here is I've had lots of jackets I've had and used for skiing and outdoor ware over the years and they have made it to the fishing bank as I'm more substance over style. What works for being up a mountain at -20 should be more than sufficient for a fishing venture but obviously there are limitations with certain ski ware I've had (my all in one ski suit from the 80's would be a site to behold on the banks of the Avon/Severn or Trent).
Being an all rounder I don't see the need for a different attire should I be on the local ponds/lakes doing some match or pleasure fishing but the trend is certainly different for the Match scene than for the Specimen/Carp folks. Obviously it's a sales thing but I'll be donning my FJ6 DPM for everything that needs it and sod anyone if I look different. As long as I'm warm/dry and comfy that's what matters.
