    Reel choice

For front drag, non baitrunner I'd seriously consider the Okuma Inc6000. Got them on my carp setup and they are a fantastic reel and even better when you consider the price. Obvioulsy a bit bigger than 5000 but they are pretty lightweight so don't feel big.

New reels - Okuma Aventa or Daiwa Emcast BR

Thanks I've already ruled out the LT version of the Emcast as other than the above post I've never seen a good comment about it!

Wanted - Powermesh Specialist Barbel 2.75

Thanks for the heads up Graham, I had seen those but was hoping to get the original version with the triple leg rings. I suspect I may end up with the newer ones but will hold out a little longer.

New reels - Okuma Aventa or Daiwa Emcast BR

Thanks for the replies. Agree with the comments on the Okuma Inc6000's as I actually have a set of these on my carp rods but wanted bait runners this time. Problem is the more I look at the alternatives the more I'm being drawn to Shimano OCs 😆

    Feeder tutorial

Useful info, thanks for posting. Are you using a standard powder coating material or is it something more specialist?

New reels - Okuma Aventa or Daiwa Emcast BR

I'm hopefully going to get a couple of the Daiwa Powermesh Barbel 2.75 rods soon, so perfect excuse to get some new reels to go with them. Currently using Shimano 6000 baitrunners and whilst there's nothing wrong I just fancy trying something different. Looking online both the Okuma Aventa...

Fox Horizon X4 or Daiwa Powermesh?

Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like the Daiwas are favourite which is handy as I was leaning towards them anyway. Just need to get out and see them in the flesh before committing. Mark - I'm only up the road from Future Fishing so they'll be my first port of call Peter - received the PM...

Fox Horizon X4 or Daiwa Powermesh?

I only really fish the Trent and to date I've been using a couple of old carp rods but feel I now need to treat myself to a nice pair of matching rods. Both the Fox Horizon X4 Barbel and Daiwa Powermesh Barbel in 2.75lb TC seem well respected but has anybody compared them side by side and...

    Okuma inception 6000

Just the Inc6000 and Shimano. As others have already said the Inc6000's are absolutely cracking reels.

    Okuma inception 6000

Does this help, the Pulzar is at the top, Inc6000 in the middle and a Shimano 6000rb at the bottom.

    Club Tickets.

Yes it does still get busy, I walk the dog down there most weekends and a couple of times over the summer they were practically queing for a peg (likewise on the opposite bank for A1 pits) I've been lucky in that I've been using up holiday so going midweek which is quieter but there are still a...
