I agree Dave, pretty little common.
Keith, congratulations again on a fine Thames pig and a lovely account of your day on the tidal, always a joy to read on here. Many wouldn't share their decent catches at all, let alone give a blow by blow account with quality pictures n'all.

Nice perch Julian, you're on form at the moment what with that huge chub you had recently and these fine stripeys.
Targetted a commercial pool for them today but could only winkle one out just before dark, 2.08. Lost what felt like a much better fish, I'll be back ! The bright conditions...
I remember seeing a slide recently at Mike Wilson's talk for the Thames Anglers Conservancy in Hampton. It showed one of Mikes swims, back in the seventies or early eighties ?, when he was fishing for carp on a famous lake. In the foreground he had arranged a screen made from some old sacking...
Thanks Ray.
Probably a little early so we'll remind everyone once the weather warms up and peoples attention turn to their lakes after the rivers close.
There are 5 of us who own her and we are really sick about the loss.
Apart from a good utility boat to bait up, help reach swims and...
I hope the mods don't mind this post here but we wanted as many people to see this as possible.
Myself and several other bfw member have had our Sportyak boat stolen this week from our syndicate lake near Maidenhead.
As many of you on here will no doubt be turning your attention to tench...
Finally got my first winter fish off the Thames on Wednesday morning on a quick session before work.
16.10 mint common. The windows of opportunity have been very small this Winter but nice to finally get one by design.

Main river ( Thames ) hoofing through. Unable to fish a couple of my baited spots so ended up on a mill pool off a back water - nothing doing. Conditions scream barbel so may have to change tack especially with the weather set to get milder from mid week.
Will keep baiting the swims when I'm...
That's the theory Matt, makes a lot of sense.
Have narrowed things down to just 3 or 4 swims which will all see a bit of bait and I'll fish them in rotation. I've done my homework and these spots are close to known holding areas in the Summer and Autumn so I'm confident the fish won't be far...
Anyone still having a go for a winter pig ?
Having found some likely locations I'm about to start a concerted effort to find a winter fish or two now I'm recovered from two bouts of man flu over Christmas :(. Lost some valuable fishing time but now I'm keen to get back at them, especially...
Even more impressive when you consider he didn't catch it whilst ledgering.
Hopefully Keith will add a little detail about this amazing capture.
Well done again matey.

Talk about catching the impossible !
I'm sure Mr Speer with indulge us with a little write up to go with the picture, which I believe is a coulple days old.
Once again Keith, many, many congratulations on an awsome snowy barbel.
Duncan.
A poor season for me barbel wise also, but I wasn't trying as hard as previous years.
My low point came after the death of double figure barbel on the Thames during the summers low water / low oxygen conditions. Despite spending an hour & 20 mins trying to revive the fish I lost it. A very...
