Just checking to see if there are any caravan & motorhome sites with barbel fishing that come recommended by you guys on here...
Well be getting a motorhome next year so will be looking to travel and fish.....

I have a mint pair of super specialist Duo’s in both flavours 1.25 & 1.5lb
I also have one each of the original super specialist single tip rods which again are mint….
The 1.5lb rod is superb for floater fishing for carp had them up to 15lb on 8 lb main line….
If you are Match fishing then yes there is a big advantage with 2 pickup pins, even just normal fishing then the balance is better and the pins last twice as long before needing replacing,

I went through the direct route when i needed some spare rings for a super specialist duo, and then a rod bag for the same...... and have always found them very obliging and helpful.
Generally speaking the "A" models were the later ones & had a red seal around the gear casing, also the gearing inside was poorer quality.
The bail arm mechanism was prone to skipping teeth under pressure, causing the bail arm to not close. i wouldn't dream of using mine for any sort of feeder...
I still have an original Whisker Kevlar 11/13 a little bit heavier but still a lovely rod, you used to be able to get a hollow tip for them, to cope with heavier loads/bigger fish, they certainly did one for the Whisker Kevlar & the later Connoisseur which i also have, i dont think youll need to...
There are some substantiated rumours of fish close at hand, I live in Somersham, but am lacking the time to chase fish at the mo....

What you really want is a Drennan Super Specialist Duo if you can find one ....The 1 1/4 is Absolutely perfect for chub, the 1 1/2 is brilliant for floater fishing for carp to high doubles
As an ex match angler the only polish I ever used was pledge, and still is....
The reason is is that pledge is beeswax based, whereas Mr sheen is a synthetic.
The added bonus of using a wax polish is that the wax fills any tiny scratches in the surface so prolonging the life of the rod.
