You thought otters were bad !!

Yes it is, Joe, and no it doesn't! I think historically it had a few Grayling, but I've never seen or heard of one from there. The Brownie fishing can be very good, though.

You thought otters were bad !!

Don't have a problem with them, personally. I regularly fish the river where it all started in England, and as far as I can see they have done nothing but improve it so far. Time will tell.....

    JW Young River Specialist centrepin

It comes with a card that says if you have any problems, phone Gary on a mobile number provided, so I assume that's Gary Mills.

    JW Young River Specialist centrepin

I bought one recently from an online tackle company, but it had to go back due to the spool being slightly out of alignment, which I wouldn't expect from youngs. Nice looking reel, and the rachet is indeed very adjustable.

    So long 2020-21 season.

If you like a bit of Tenching, Eddie, and don't mind a bit of a drive, the Grand Western Canal is a good bet, especially once it warms up a bit.

    Strong Maggot Hook

I can't get on with those, they seem a bit soft and prone to opening out.... Obviously not for you!

    Online Maggots

The only people I could find were them, have to say the Mags arrived in good nick, although once I had riddled them off didn't look like much of a pint in each bag, or maybe my local tackle shop is a lot more generous?

    So....How far is ‘local’ then?

I would have thought 5 miles was fine. I think the PM went further than that to ride his bike so I dont think you'll have anything to worry about.

    The river wye .

Opposite bank Thomas Wood fishery, I think.

    The river wye .

I think it got fairly hammered last year, Bill, what with furloughed folk etc. Seemed to be a lot more spots opened up, not all of them requiring a death defying descent!

    The river wye .

Regarding Bishopswood, that's correct, day ticket below canoe launch, still about a mile of river to go at.

    The river wye .

There were a lot more swims at Bishopswood last year than I've seen before, plenty that were easy to get at and comfortable.

    The river wye .

You're going at a good time and plenty of water available in that area. Newport Angling Association control the fishing through Symonds Yat itself, on both banks so plenrty to go at there. Tickets from the Campsite or Saracens head, possibly other places as well. £10. Worcester Angling...

    Waterlogged

Pretty similar to last winter here, lots of rain and rivers too high. I'm going to get out to my only local spot and have a go for Chub tomorrow, whatever the conditions!

    Wanting to fish the Wye

Most beats and all WUF day only, which isn't a problem on the Wye as you can catch plenty of fish in the day.

What’s the easiest way split braid spool

Or just weigh spool of new braid, remove braid, weigh again, then you know the weight of the braid and can keep weighing as you fill you reel .

    The state of our rivers

I couldn't agree more, I'm going to start by cutting out middle men like the water companies, and have a dump in the river everytime I go fishing...😁

    River Lugg vandalism

Can't beat The Eye for sniffing things out. Surprised it hasn't surfaced sooner......then again...

    The state of our rivers

Not exactly, several EU countries are also to be granted "emergency use" despite the so called ban.

    Fishing officially permitted

Nice to see a united front backing the good work the Angling Trust have done for us.
