    PALLATRAX GRIPZ HOOKS

I use Gripz wide gape, not the cheapest of hooks, but it’s buy 4 packs get the 5th.free.But you are talking pence, when you think what you spend on other tackle.

    PALLATRAX GRIPZ HOOKS

I’ve used Gripz for at least the last three seasons. And rate them very highly.I fish a small weedy river, and have not lost a fish due to hook failure. The barbel and chub more often than not bury them selves into the streamer weed, and I can slowly slacken off letting them swim out without losing...

    Night fishing tidal trent.

To get a night fishing permit with Scunthorpe AA,you now have to be a member for two years, and be registered on Clubmate. All to do with not wanting a big influx of ex Collingham anglers. Still a great value ticket for all the Trent stretches that we have.

I don’t know how I didn’t notice carrying up the bank in my gear,I know they are harmless, but if it had shown itself I still would have had a shock. As I said, thank goodness it came out before I put it in the car.Can you imagine driving down the motorway and it appears on your shoulder 😄

    I videoed the snake’s antics,but I can’t put video’s up on here.So here’s a couple of stills.It was a good sized one.

Lovely swim but had to move because of a persistent grass snake, harmless I know, but took a liking to my jacket and bag,and wanted to make a home in them. After three trips up the steep bank with my gear,I started to load the car to find it had cadged a lift up the bank in my gear, luckily I...

You have one of the better Stanley ones if you bought it in America. The other forum reviews put the Stanley right up there with the best. But production was moved to somewhere in Asia and the quality went down hill.So I’m told.

    Flask

This subject comes up now and again on my other forums. And the Thermos King flask is always highly recommended. I bought one last year, and can say it’s the best flask I’ve used.I only put boiling water in,and take 3 in 1 coffee. What’s left when I get home is always still very hot. Not sure if...

    Head torches and swim disturbance

I definitely wouldn’t switch one on while fishing. On landing a fish yes,to help unhooking as the swim is disturbed anyway. And when packing up.I wouldn’t want to fish places which were lit up like that. As I was also brought up the old fashioned way,I remember reading that Dick Walker wouldn’t...

A little bit of tidying up.

The ironic thing is,that on the opposite bank of the river it’s the Idle Valley nature reserve, where beavers have been introduced. But a few meters across the river nature can be destroyed. I‘m going to a meeting on Tuesday,so I’ll mention your suggestions Stephen.

A little bit of tidying up.

A quite well known angler(I had put his name originally but don’t want to incriminate him😊)has suggested the same thing Darren.Cut willow twigs and push them in every 20 yards. He reckons that in five years they will have grown enough to give cover for the fish.My reply was that in five years...

A little bit of tidying up.

I’ve been the bailiff on there for over 10 years,it’s a difficult stretch, but satisfying when you do catch. It only attracts anglers that like a challenge,so I have an easy job,all decent chaps. Today I feel like packing it in.

A little bit of tidying up.

Yes Joe.I asked them if the EA would be repairing the track after all the damage they’ve done,I couldn’t get my car near for fear of getting stuck, and had to walk. The reply I got was, We have put some stone down for our benefit, but it’s the landowners responsibility to sort it out.

A little bit of tidying up.

The weed cutter came through twice this year, taking out all the streamer weed.I could catch in the weed with a pva mesh bag of pellet, and the hook nicked into the bag, never lost a fish to the weed.So the fish found refuge under the willows, now I suspect that all the willows will disappear.The...

A little bit of tidying up.

Unfortunately Graham it is the EA doing the work.We have very few trees on this stretch, and not many fish either, but they are stunning when lucky enough to catch one.Just about all my fish have come from under some sort of cover. To say I’m gutted is an understatement .
