Afternoon all,
To some extent, I usually experience a certain amount of indecision during the close season about where to fish and what to fish for. This year I was all ready for an early season tench campaign following the warm March we had, but then April happened!!
Now I'm faced with...
What's happened? I thought he'd been very quiet.
If he could comment, I'm sure he'd agree with you though Si! :) So I will pipe down about the virtues of my 12ft rod, otherwise everyone else will get bored of us comparing sizes! :D
Each to their own Simon - personally I HATE 11ft tip rods and wouldn't dream of using one in a million years! :D :D
Seriously though, this is clearly a case of personal preference, so I don't think you should necessarily presume that you are right and we are wrong.
Further to Nick's point, I also find a longer rod useful on smaller rivers because the extra length can often prove very useful in applying some pressure from an angle that wouldn't be possible with a shorter rod - i.e. when a chub dives for the snags under your feet or for the overhanging bush...

So out into the...
Just turned up at the river to find bivies set up in swims but no anglers or actual fishing tackle to be seen!!! Now THAT is selfish.
Fair play if they want to turn up early and secure a swim, but sticking a bivvy up god knows when and f**king off home is pathetic.
Good luck mate. However, I may be forced to call you selfish unless you tell me where your pre-baited swims are! :D :D
I'm off to the W.Avon this evening and I haven't pre-baited at all. I'm squeaky clean (and lazy)! :D
