Summer is coming and that means shops will be stocking BBQ items again. In particular BBQ mesh used to prevent meat from sticking to metal grills. In the past I have found them in Poundshops and Wilkos. The latest ones cost me €1.79 each and will make up to a dozen feeders dependent on size. I...
I have had mine for around 12 to 13 years, possibly longer, and it is still going strong. The main interior compartment is just the right size to take a Greys compartment box plus a similar sized box for leads and feeders. That leaves the lower compartment for rig boxes, bait dropper, pva tube...
One car I wouldn't recommmend is a Honda CR-V. Whilst it is a lot quieter, smoother and more relaxing than our Skoda Octavia and the Berlingo it replaced, I haven't had a decent fish in all the four months that I have owned it! I call it the blankwagon.
I think that if I tried that over here I would most certainly be unpleasantly surprised by a bloody great catfish making off with the meat and scorching my thumb in the process. 😫
I hope that you get what you are wishing for Paul. But if you ever need to scratch that itch again there are plenty of barbel in beautiful low angling pressure locations here in France. No night fishing though. Just clean water, quiet locations and no other anglers for miles.
It is a strange situation in that burbot are declining in many areas and some put it down to global warming. Yet in the medieval period it was as warm as today's temperatures and burbot thrived in the eastern side of England so much so that they fed them to pigs in the East Anglian area. In the...
The system around where we live is mixed farming where cattle are kept in fields and the young bullocks kept in sheds to fatten up. The waste from the sheds is used to fertalise other fields where seed crops and grass are grown to fed to the bullocks. Over recent years it has become increasingly...
A lot of what you thjnk are 4wd aren't. The Yeti comes in 2wd format as does the CRV ,Duster and other SUVs. So you get the ride height and luggage space that you desire without having 4wd.
The Focus has a very small luggage area compared to its rivals. Skodas, especially the Octavia have enormous boots. The Yeti is very similar. In my opinion Nissan are not the cars they used to be, possibly due the Renault influence.
This the downstream side of the bridge. The whole area is teeming with mullet feeding on the rocks. You can see them in the photos. When I took these photos in January two years ago there were only mullet there. Now they have been joined by at least two barbel one is at leaxst 6lb, possibly...
What do you need to entertain the kids? A lot of camp sites and gites have pools and you can hire bikes in many places including the Plans d'Eau which often have bike trails and lake beaches.
Another day at the Rio Ter. Couldn't buy a bite for the first two hours, then couldn't hit the bites, then couldn't land the fish I did hook due to the hooks pulling out, then got broken three times, twice by rogue barbel amongst the mullet and once by the target species. Probably the most...
With loose brass ferrules candle wax rubbed over the male joint was the remedy of choice. It also works on glass and carbon rods. You have to repeat the process periodically.
For a more permanent fix on carbon rods I would consider thinning down some resin used to bond fibreglass and applying...
Afternoon on the Rio Ter in Catalonia. Ended up onlly fishing for about an hour in total due to one thing and another, mainly other people putting the fish off
This part has some Ebro Barbel in it, a species I haven't yet caught. The bank has subsided since I found the swim 2 years...
We used to make them out of ladie's hair curlers and a strip of roofing lead in the 70's.
Recently I have set about making jumbo feeders for initial baiting up out of tubes used to hold epoxy resin. They are about half as long as silicone tubes.
