    Had that happen on the dove a few times, i did land a pike on one occasion ,nice fish around 10lb took a krill boilie if memory serves, quite a few came out over the years on non pike bait ,ie boilie,pellet, meat, i suppose its all good stuff if your hungry enough and no energy used to chase...

    David, i think i read somewhare that the trent had a natural run of sturgeon, dont suppose the wiers were about then, and probably it was the wiers that halted the migration,,,,someone on the site probably knows ,i think thats probably right for a number of rivers, Regards

    You beat me to it neil, headwaters of the dove, or rather a multitude of small brooks ,cuttings etc dry up every year on the back of the peninnes, theres plenty of bridges over dry beds up there,

    Its a good read rich, and the combined skills has given them a platform to do this kind of investigation, a lot of anglers would have seen, and still do see the destruction of our waterways, but not known how to report it ,other than to agencies who already know whats going on and do nothing...
