Fishing last night and got to thinking about hard pellets and wondered if a barbel was actually capable of munching a pellet say a 14mm halibut or actually eating one, be interesting to see different views.

100% yes. Those throat teeth can crush hard.

Definitely, they eat snails, shrimp and even Crayfish so I'd say they wouldn't have a problem eating a pellet.

Two 21mm Halibut pellets have caught good barbel for me recently on the tidal trent so no problem , i dont always fish a jonking great bait but sometimes just like winter cod fishing , it might just catch a better stamp of fish .
