I've tried many times to familarise myself with my centrepin, each time I fish with it I end up taking off and putting my baitrunner back on, as Neil says. I usually try it a couple of times a season, and the same thing always happens. I suppose I should make more of an effort.

I agree Cliff. There are boots that 'take the edge off', but don't keep your feet toastie as such. Going for a 5 minute walk down the river bank usually provides a bit of warmth in the usual extremities.

I use Muckboots, and so far they seem ok, your feet can still get a little cold sometimes, but not frozen. A matchman mate of mine swears by Baffin boots, which have some kind of warm lining, expensive though I believe.

It certainly is annoying, and typical I suppose. There's bound to be some jammy bugger who can get away with it, I'll spend a fair bit of time trying to justify a few hours, but the chances are slim to be honest.

The Shimano 6000 OC is a good reel Dave, I had one and sold it, and now wished I hadnt. The 6000D is also good. Both are front drags. John

I agree with Graham, I use stilton,pastry and cheddar kneaded together, any other additives are pretty much pointless, a hungry chub will eat it anyway...in fact, a hungry chub will eat pretty much anything. IMO, bread is a better bait for chub, for me, it seems to outfish cheesepaste most of...

Whilst fishing the Great Ouse I heard Jeff....which I suppose was quite fitting given the hours he spent there. Great angler and angling writer.

That's a great post Steve. I like to think the same about some of the rivers I fish, it's not all gloom and doom. :)
