    Korum 12ft Barbel rod

I've got a 2lb that I purely use for chucking baitdroppers. It's a strong rod and the blank seems ok, but I agree that quality isn't great, the reel attachment fitting broke on mine not long after having it.

    Protective rod cases

Evening chaps, I'll be upgrading my rods to Freespirits next month(lucky me). I'm currently using a Korum three rod quiver for my current rods, which obviously doesnt offer 100% protection. So, what the best rod holdall that offers full protection? It would need to also house rod rest...

    Bait droppers

Can't wait for those to arrive Mark. The medium ones (4oz), are the nuts. I used to have 5 of them, currently down to my last two. I do find they do need modifications though, the doors can work loose, so I pop rivet mine on before i use them. JC

    UFO,s whilst fishing.

I've found just lately that there's more chance of seeing a UFO than my isotope moving....

Do your Baits and boilies change come winter?

bear in mind Jon that a lot of members on here are currently out chasing big girls whilst not at work, sometimes it takes a day or two to get a response. Myself, i use pretty much the same baits, albeit in smaller quantities than in summer. Smaller pieces of meat etc etc.

    Bait droppers

I'm also down to my last two.....I always drill holes in the hinges in mine, and secure with a few pop rivets, that usually means the hinges stay put.

    Bait droppers

He was selling them at the Barbel Society show back in June. I had a look at one, I'm not so sure about them, with the fins etc. I'd question how quickly they'd reach the bottom on the Lower Severn with 10ft on it, my Seymo's go straight down, I don't think the Pelhate ones would. they're...

Has the retirement area of UK anglers changed?

I'm a way off it yet at nearly 48, but I'm in a Local Government scheme, so it's possible i could get to my personal pension by 55, depends if I could afford to live on it. I'd like to get a three day a week job then if I could, so 4 days off every week. Not sure if id move though really...

Best barbel rod for medium sized rivers between £50-150

you can get a daiwa theory for about 80-85 quid, twin tips, a 3oz tip and an Avon tip. I've got one and it's very good.

    Bait and wait ?

Neil, if we are talking of the place I think :), then i've never caught one there in broad daylight, all mine have come at dusk. You've been fishing the place a lot longer than i have though.

    Dropper vs loose bait

I'm with Joe, i also dont go out without a dropper and a load of hemp, especially in deep swims. I've got a mix of droppers myself, but the Seymo teardrops are the best ones, but like Joe says the doors fall off, so i drill mine and pop-rivet them on before use. The seymo one are like rocking...

    Why? Just bloody why???

Same Neil. The middle is a nightmare, I spent 20 minutes clearing up whilst choosing a swim to fish on Friday evening, my rucksack was full of beer and pop cans, and an empty can of hemp. Roll on Autumn.
