Thanks for posting this, I have both the barbel and the barbel leger. The barbel leger being a lovely rod I’ve had from new. The barbel I acquired a couple of years ago and I’m not so happy with it. When I was looking for it I thought it would be the barbel leger but without the quivertip...
I have one, like other reviewers I can confirm it seems quite small, or rather perfectly sized. It is light,
I don’t carry a brolly I use the large pocket for the second tip of a twin tip, net handle and a spare rod, this pocket is zipped.
The reel pockets are quite spacious and I pack other...
I’m really confused. I have the 11ft Harrison Avon. I understand this to have a test curve of 1.4lbs that is decimal 1.4lbs which is about 1lb 6 oz. I don’t have a Harrison Avon SU. I believe 1.6lbs (decimal) is the test curve which is 1lb 9oz. I think the 1.4 Avon is also sometimes interpreted...
I may have missed it, but I did not see a budget and many of the suggestions seem quite expensive.
I don’t do much float fishing I mainly leger in one form or another. I would suggest for legering you buy a secondhand twin tip rod. There are lots available. To get an idea of their capability as...
Hi Neil, it possible to describe the action of the blank please. I have never seen the rod or the Teme, I don’t even know where it is!
I know describing the action of a blank is a big ask since everyone’s interpretation of action is different. But at the moment I don’t know if it is a brute of...
Thanks Richard, it was a little difficult to glue up, I think they would easy on abbreviated handles but I like full cork on my rods.
With guides and blanks not trading, it’s now much more difficult to get the parts, I won’t be making my own rods in the near future. Even when guides and blanks...
Hi Steve,
I have a Harrison 1.4lb which is the 1lb 6oz I have found it a bit soft, very nice but a bit soft. I have been wondering how the 1.6lb, 1lb 10oz compares and you seem well placed to describe the difference. Did you ever feel the 11ft 1.75lb Torrix may have been a better option rather...
As far as I am aware a spliced tip and a “fixed” quiver is just like a telescopic section that has jammed. A bit of thread neatly bound around the tip stops it retracting back into the hollow section of the rod. Finished with a bit of varnish it is fixed in place. No epoxy or varnish creeping...
Hi Richard, congranulations on achieving your objective. I have a problem which must be common since there are lots of reports of broken rod tips. I have a Silstar diaflex with a broken tip. I’m am using it at its shortened length but would like to restore it to its original 4.2m. Its original...
The wind has dropped a bit so I’ve been able to open the garage without fear of it being blown in. Had a look at the reel seat, it just has the Fuji logo. But a good point well worth another look.
If you want to try white, but are not sure about it and don’t want the permanance of paint, just wrap plumbers PTFE tape round the tip and see how you feel about it. It stays on well if put on tightly, but comes off easy when you want it to.
Hi Steve, Thanks for removing any shadow of doubt about their origin. Is there a chance you can post a picture or two of the 12 footer? I would like to see what rings were used and an idea of their spacing. If there is already an accepted ring pattern for this blank I would like to use it.
How to protect the unused tip of a twin tip was a concern to me particularly when the quivertip was unused. Leaving a tip protector on it seemed to be courting disaster and leaving it unprotected in a quiver an invitation to every branch on the bank. My solution was to cut up an old Diawa pole...
