    Snowed Under with Ludicrous Advertising

Paul, Tried downloading this 'adblock' to no avail, Windows Vista not accepting it, thanks, Mike

That also is so noticable about the 'intrusion', Jason. I didn't mention it in my post, awaiting any feedback from other attendees. This tells me it is unique to BFW, rather than any other ad' intruders. I await with bated breath for any Administrator to offer solace!!! Your "bigger banner"...

    Snowed Under with Ludicrous Advertising

This past couple of days I have had my BFW Forums absolutely awash with junk adverts' from handbags to water quality testing crap!!! I am sick of it, so how can I stop it, it does seem that Google has suddenly gone overboard, but if I cannot get away from it, which is not evident on other sites...

    Secure fishing

Don't despair, Jamie, (Jim) someone or two or three should be along before too long a wait, with some sound advice and details as you request. It may be a conflict of interests right now, with ladies World Cup fooball, F-1 Austrian GP w-end, cricket stuff and Wimbledon plus Glastonbury all...

    Naming stretches.

When a BS member and I had access to the 'private' web-site, available to members only (apart from interlopers, friends of members!), lots of the society waters swims had nicknames, known to regular attendees. The names meant nothing to 'outsiders', so were frequented only by...

Travel Rod - 1.5lb tc or similar

What a rather splendid thread this turned out to be, for one 'outside' the remit but still interested in the eventual responses from the various participants. As far as I can make out there has been not one iota of 'I'm better than you', 'That's a load of rubbish' sort of comment/response from...

    A Christmas Tale...

....and I wonder how many more absorbing tales reside in Lee's mind and literary armory?. Never met up with Lee, as far as I know and recall, though we did have the odd internet conversation whilst I was BS Secretary. Thanks for the 'jogged' memory Andy! Here's best wishes for Christmas to you...

    EA Survey

Done, though cannot believe it will be of any tangible use other than to data gatherers!! Won't hold my breath waiting for EA to put a stop to poaching of fish from rivers by unlicenced non-legal residents! Mike

    Some lower Teme fishing....

Bransford and Bransford Court were two stunning fisheries..... over 12 years ago! Trefor West and others will testify that they have deteriorated beyond recognition since. I doubt whether any of the ex-Members of the fisheries, whilst leased by the Barbel Society, would recommend either of them...

    Photos of river scenes

Cheers, Ian, I'm pleased I wasn't mistaken, Yung Tam was a good pal in the old BS days, good grafter on the workparties. Never aware of his Nickname though!! Mike

When I saw it my immediate thought was an old chum Tom Herbert, when he was a little larger than of recently. Believe he has been a member here some time ago, Mike

    Congratulations to Paul4 Whiteing!!

Paul, Your ethics are admirable it's a great pity they are not evident in too many anglers! I agreed with your early decision to 'keep-mum' to the wider fraternity and consider all aspects of publisising, before revealing all to all. Your true pals supported your views and totally agreed with...

    A very sad announcement

The saddest of the days today, for Linda and family, the last 'Goodbye' but supported by old friends, Mike and Sue. Memories to be relived together and cherished for always. RIP Rayo, never met but known and respected by association.

Back on here.... Gordon Bennet, I'm being 'stalked'..... after 4 years absence and all those hundreds of missed 'smiley face' opportunities with your odd Loddon or two captures, nice to see you on the 'premier' Barbel website again Mr. G,;):)

    Origin of the phrase...

As an educated guess, I would probably venture it was either said or written by Trefor West.
