Hi Neil Not fished below chequers weir for quite a few years to be honest but do occasionally fish opposite fry`s as its not far from my home so go there for the odd short session when i don`t want to drive out to bath.
I fish the bristol Avon and there are very few small fish and pockets of big fish from 8lb to to mid doubles, i fished my local stretch for one fish of 12lb last season and from reports from people i know there were no fish below 8lb at all.

was fishing a stretch of the bristol avon last friday and could here a bite alarm going beep beep every 10 seconds for the whole time i was there and he was over a hundred yards away from me.I wont be going back until the winter when all the noddy`s have gone home.

very well said :) i have been doing the same recently as i`m fishing a hard stretch of water with only a hand full of fish in it and started to doubt my rigs and the way i do things when the real answer is the fish are not there.
