the only animal on this planet decimating everything is us unfortunately all the poor animals that have been wiped out because of human interference is beyond belief, anyway on the Otter front there are plenty on the Bristol Avon and barbel are very few but never see any dead fish on the bank...
Just wondering what hair length and position people use, i have been using a very short hair with a small piece of silicon on the hook to hold bait very near the bend of the hook.

Here's a question for you guys people go on about the welfare of fish and how it might hurt its self laying on the grass but we are all happy to strike a sharp piece of metal through its lip. Suppose we except one and ignore another.
Don't use a mat unless club rules state i need to. Also dont feel the need to use one just put some thought to where you put the fish when unhooking i usally find some soft grass and have never had a problem in over 30 years of fishing. If you want to use one go for it what ever suits each...
