But you would have 3 choices:
Join at the non AT rate
Join at the AT member rate
Not join.
How many choices do you need
I guess some people will look for any excuse not to join :(
Perhaps clubs could consider a 2 tier membership system
£x for AT members or £x +£20 for non AT members with the difference being donated to the AT?
Might persuade a few more people to make their minds up (although it should be a no-brainer anyway imo).
Might not be the first name you'd think of, but I have read some good reports about these:
Shakespeare Mach 3 XT Forward Drag 035 Fishing Reel - SportsDirect.com
On offer at various places now as I believe discontinued.
I have an 030 size one on order to try as a waggler reel.
It must be luck of the draw with the Cortesi reels as plenty of people (myself included) seem to have no problems with them.
I have never had the line go behind the spool even when using 4lb line, whereas its a fairly common occurrence with the Leeds reel with lighter lines if I lose...

Shimano - twice replaced the top section of a feeder rod, the 2nd time was after it was out of warranty. The 3rd section still going strong 15 years later (caught my first double figure barbel on this...
Its possible it didn't take off because it was full of fish.
I once disturbed one down a dead arm of a reservoir - it regurgitated its stomach contents so it could fly away.
I counted the roach & perch fry that were left behind - there were 50
I haven't tried E&L for tackle insurance, but briefly had a caravan policy with them some time ago. Cancelled it when I found out they have a very poor reputation for avoiding paying out. When I checked the small print it was full of loopholes.
Maybe their tackle cover is ok, but it might be...
To be fair, the other tackle shop (just over the bridge at the bottom of the Cartway) is a good shop, but is a bit smaller than Bridgnorth Tackle so carries a smaller range of gear.
The chaps who run it are helpful though, the maggots are usually good quality & they have longer opening hours...
