Tackle insurance

I added my tackle as a named item to my home insurance. I couldn't tell you exactly what it covers, but it costs me nothing extra. I did the same for my smart phone.

I haven't tried E&L for tackle insurance, but briefly had a caravan policy with them some time ago. Cancelled it when I found out they have a very poor reputation for avoiding paying out. When I checked the small print it was full of loopholes.
Maybe their tackle cover is ok, but it might be worth doing a google for some reviews before taking out a policy with them.

I have mine covered as a named item on my house insurance too, this also includes cover while 'off premises' and theft from an unattended vehicle ( as if! ) costs about £10 extra a month but worth it i think.

I had a number of issues with E&L over pet and caravan insurance two,but to be fair I do know of some Horse owners who swear by them.
My tackle is covered by Aviva (Norwich union) as an add on to my home insurance and covers accidental damage which in the past included a new for old replacement for a £1500 Diawa Pole which I broke by falling of my platform when fishing a match on the Yorkshire Ouse.
They do tend to force you to use their preferred suppliers(Fosters) but it is a reasonable cost and usually pretty quick to turn claims around.

Mines the same as Andrews but only cost me an extra £14 for the year on top of my contents cover and covers up to £1200 away from home but full cover whilst on the premises.. Its through a broker called Castle cover.

Household insurance for me as well and the same for the phone. When I washed the last one they had a replacement, like for like, with me the following morning.

Mine is on the contents side of my home insurance too. I don't think it cost me any extra, as far as I recall. I must admit though that I do wonder what will happen when/if I ever have to claim. My insurance is through my building society, and the staff know absolutely nothing about angling, certainly not what certain branches of fishing can involve. For instance, when I mentioned that carping can sometimes mean whole weekends or longer away, sleeping in a bivvy while your fishing equipment remains outside, they tend to gawp in amazement, then waffle a lot, and eventually claim it would be covered...but I am fairly sure that when it comes to it, they wouldn't pay out in those circumstances.

I have yet to find an insurance company that will not take every avenue possible...real or invented, to avoid paying out on a claim, whatever they said when trying to get your custom.

Cheers, Dave.

there is a tackle insurance company that will also pay £1000 quid for catching a record fish, so get fishing for those bleak!

Personal possesions on my house insurance - £5000 limit, £50 excess.

AXA insurance - not the cheapest but no problems when I have had to claim.

My travel insurance was only going to pay me £85 on a £600+ claim and they were trying to claim £270 from my house insurance.

I spoke to my house insurance cancelled my travel insurance claim (£50 excess per item of the claim) paid my £50 excess and got my £600.
