Hi Stuart As long as you use a feeder or lead weight on a running rig - so it moves up and down the main line - you won't leave it attached to a barbel - if it snaps on the mainline the lead will end up on the bottom of the river as the barbel will pull the line from the lead - if it snaps on...

Thanks Guys. Had a walk of some of the stretch yesterday - very low and clear - not many seemed to be catching but mate and I had a large number of chub and upto 10 barbel feeding..... chub in other stretches appear to be spawning still?? Moved onto another stretch to start my season - 2...
