I've got the same. Only had it one season but very happy with it. Reinforced base, heavily padded shoulder straps and heavy duty zips lead me to think it should do the job over time.
I have an old style Greys Prodigy Barbel multi-tip. It is the 1.75lb tc version with one solid top and one quiver tip carrier.
At the back end of last section the quiver section broke due to my dad not pushing one of the quiver tips in far enough. As a result I am now on the lookout for a...
Not a bad shout Graham. I once used my son's Garbolino Rocket Carp Waggler on a perching session at Barton Court. It passed the test with flying colours and was a joy to use. The only real issue was that it was the 10' version which was a little on the short size for the swim I was fishing. The...
Evening chaps
I'm humming and ha-ing about a change of scenery and species next season. I've been on the Wasing Kennet syndicate for the past two seasons after barbel and while I have enjoyed it, I am contemplating a change for a number of reasons.
As a member I have been offered the...
Well done chaps, a fine end to the river season. Unfortunately even with a lack of work I failed to get out again, so that three will have to wait for yet another season. Not surprising really as I think I need to put in a fair few more hours to truly deserve one.
Thx for the advice. Unfortunately the missus got a shift today so had to cancel the planned trip.
A mate is faring better today at Barton Court. He's had a few perch including two twos, biggest so far 2lb 13.5oz. He's done what i should have done last week and switched to red maggots!
Cracking fish again Paul, well done! I tend to use a 1.5oz tip also unless fishing under my feet where it has to be the float every time if only because I find it more exciting!
Might pop out for a few hours lure fishing on the Thames this Friday, work dependent. Teddington towards Kingston...
Not sure this warrants an entry on the perch thread but here goes anyway!
Spent thurs and fri perching with my dad in two of the closest spots I know of for bankers if you're after fish in excess of 2lbs.
Thursday was spent on the kennet at Barton Court. The river was low and clear, although...
Hoping to get out after some stripey's at the back end of next week. First time out fishing since the beginning of Nov! Unfortunately my planned trip to Barton Court is off as some bounder has booked the whole place out next Friday. If I have luck elsewhere I'll keep you all posted.
Hi Luke
Long time no speak. I love my old Greys Prodigy, decent amount of power with a very forgiving tip. Very, very rarely suffer hook pulls with it, so it suits my style of using smaller hooks than many others. Given that I really bully my fish too, i'd be nervous swapping. However, I don't...
Nice fish Will.
Yep, under exposure is a pain, as there is generally little or no detail to work with. What there is, is often grainy. I can have a look too if you have the original, got bugger all work on at the moment.
Well done Mark, as David says a very good result for an exploratory trip. You are right though mate, it could be that the majority of the fish were in one spot, they do shoal up more as the year goes on I believe.
Personal experience does tend to back up what I've read from various experts...
I think most of the twos in my spot may have moved on. Either that or moved down the pecking order below the chub and pike that were holing up there this trip. A couple of friends of mine fished my spot a couple of weeks ago and had ten twos out of it, only one was probably a recapture of one of...
On my way back from a sneaky trip to Barton Court, total of five and a half hours journey time ain't to hot!
The big perch weren't really playing ball today. The crays were certainly having a field day though, activity worst I've experienced there.
Missed bite first cast, recast quickly. Hit...
Sorry mate, my mistype. Meant legering lol, can you imagine?!
I have seen anti tangle leger rigs for Perch livebaiting but I don't think they'd suit my style of fishing or some of the swims I fish.
It varies mate. I've had all but one biggy on worms but my old pb was on a float fished minnow livebait. All my recent perch came on lobs, either with a very light quivertip or a loafer float. My mate normally has trouble getting the Barton Court fish on lobs but gets plenty on large dendra's...
