Seems pretty bullet proof and def sinks v. well and gives a true combi effect of stiff vs supple, as you have discovered though it does need steaming though.

Seriously though the snag ears (although rather shiny and sexy :p) do serve a purpose in stopping your rods going for a swim. Particularly important if youre afloat:

Thanks Simon - The top fish was 9.08 and I had couple of 8's and the smallest fish I had was 6lbs I think.
I am no expert on Tench sizes but judging by their average sizes on the bank and then looking at them in the water I would say that the big one was ................ much much bigger :D
Have to admit I hardly ever fish for Chub intentionally and they tend to happen along as a bi-product of carping or barbeling but I thought I would let you in on something.
