haha mate I know the feeling.... Haven't even had the chub gear out once this season, all that will be changing in the next couple of weeks though. First frosts n all that ;)
I do a lot of my Chub fishing on small to very small rivers, and I find a 12 foot rod perfect as the extra length often means you can drop the rig off the tip of the rod instead of casting.... sometimes wouldn't even mind a 13 footer ;)

There's always going to be a small minority of people who use em in the wrong way, but the same could be said of any item of fishing tackle, no?
As someone who has been a subscriber for 5 years now, and recommended it to others I could not agree more with what has been said.

I seem to remember reading in Stoneys book about his life on the Thames, that once when he was a young man putting an 8lb barbel in a wet hessian sack on his handlebars and cycling a good 8 mile round trip to the club secretarys house and back to the river again, just so he could have the weight...
After walking the dogs this evening I'm off with a mate to drop into our prebaited swim on the Thames which has seen over the past 3 weeks in the region of 250 kilos of mixed particles and a 'few' boilies... On a river as big as the Thames with such a relatively low population of carp let alone...
