What does a fighting drag offer that a standard front grab doesn't? I've always seen them but never used one before.

How does it compare to your 4000D? I think the XR is a fair bit lighter isn't it?

I saw the Aero XR but couldn’t find many reviews. I’d like to think as a Shimano reel its got the quality aspect, I’ll have a closer look at them.

Thanks Neil, I actually had one of these and wasn’t a fan of the double handle. I was considering another OC, but there is so much choice out there I thought I’d ask in here. I was looking at Ninja reels as I don’t particularly need a bait runner.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a reel to put onto my quivertip rod, currently a Drennan series 7 1.5lb quiver rod or Free Spirit 1.5lb Tamer. I have a couple of Shimano 4000OC’s, and a couple SS1600 which are on my barbel rods. Can you recommend a reel for feeder work up to £100 please. Thanks.

I've had the reel for a few years but used it very little. I think there was a taper from front to back the first time I spooled it up, which I stripped off a few days ago and put this new line on it. Looks like I'll have to strip it again and put another washer on. Thanks for the replies.

Hi All, I spooled up my reel last night and unsure if the line lay looks right, does it taper too much? I did add a spool washer but still didn't look right i think.

Thanks Christian, I have a couple of OC's for night fishing with 2 rods, I use my SS1600 for roving mostly. If they're discontinued I might try and get hold of a back up 👍

Does anyone know what’s happened to the ss1600 reels? I’m trying to find one for sale online but they are out of stock everywhere, are they discontinued? I bought one a couple years ago and trying to get a pair, the odd one on eBay is ridiculous money.

Thanks Barry,I actually have a Dave Harrell speci waggler but I never used it. The nuisance crays have now nudged me into float fishing and I really enjoyed what I've done so far. I might email Dave Harrell and see which he advises in the range 👍
