    Line lay Shimano DL

I've had the reel for a few years but used it very little. I think there was a taper from front to back the first time I spooled it up, which I stripped off a few days ago and put this new line on it. Looks like I'll have to strip it again and put another washer on. Thanks for the replies.

    Line lay Shimano DL

Hi All, I spooled up my reel last night and unsure if the line lay looks right, does it taper too much? I did add a spool washer but still didn't look right i think.

    Daiwa SS1600

Thanks Christian, I have a couple of OC's for night fishing with 2 rods, I use my SS1600 for roving mostly. If they're discontinued I might try and get hold of a back up 👍

    Daiwa SS1600

Does anyone know what’s happened to the ss1600 reels? I’m trying to find one for sale online but they are out of stock everywhere, are they discontinued? I bought one a couple years ago and trying to get a pair, the odd one on eBay is ridiculous money.

    Trotting advice

Thanks everyone, those Andrew Burt floats look ideal so I'll send an order tonight. It sounds like the specimen heavy style floats will allow me to fish a good way out without the need of a waggler or wading, so now I just need to get out there a bit more. I can't imagine the fight from a...

    Trotting advice

    Trotting advice

Thanks Chris, good to hear your experience and how you apply the different types of floats. I actually have quite a selection of chubbers and avon but they've been used very little until now. So how far out are you happy to float fish using these? Is it a case of give it a go and see until...

    Trotting advice

Hi All, I have recently tried to float fish rather than ledger due to crayfish attacking my bait as soon as I cast in. Being relatively inexperienced at float fishing, I'm trying to learn and have had a little success recently using an avon float catching a number of silvers in a fast flow at...

    Free Spirit Tamer rods

I'll put some line through them, you're probably right that the extra power will be there down the blank. Thanks.

    Free Spirit Tamer rods

Hi All, I have purchased some new rods over the closed season, a CTX River Tamer rated at 1.5lb and a Barbel Tamer rated at 2lb. I'm very surprised to hold them side by side and not see a noticeable difference between the two rods. I would have expected the barbel tamer to maybe have a few...

Thanks, I've spooled up with 10lb and I'll see how I get on. First impressions are that it's a nice looking rod, hopefully I can put a bend in it over the weekend.

    Freelining tips

Thanks Barry, do you put the cheese straight in the hook? I'm looking forward to it, a little different to the bait and wait that I'm used to.
