Thanks Christian, I have a couple of OC's for night fishing with 2 rods, I use my SS1600 for roving mostly. If they're discontinued I might try and get hold of a back up 👍
Does anyone know what’s happened to the ss1600 reels? I’m trying to find one for sale online but they are out of stock everywhere, are they discontinued?
I bought one a couple years ago and trying to get a pair, the odd one on eBay is ridiculous money.
Thanks everyone, those Andrew Burt floats look ideal so I'll send an order tonight. It sounds like the specimen heavy style floats will allow me to fish a good way out without the need of a waggler or wading, so now I just need to get out there a bit more. I can't imagine the fight from a...
Thanks Barry,I actually have a Dave Harrell speci waggler but I never used it. The nuisance crays have now nudged me into float fishing and I really enjoyed what I've done so far. I might email Dave Harrell and see which he advises in the range 👍
Thanks Chris, good to hear your experience and how you apply the different types of floats. I actually have quite a selection of chubbers and avon but they've been used very little until now.
So how far out are you happy to float fish using these? Is it a case of give it a go and see until...
Hi All,
I have recently tried to float fish rather than ledger due to crayfish attacking my bait as soon as I cast in.
Being relatively inexperienced at float fishing, I'm trying to learn and have had a little success recently using an avon float catching a number of silvers in a fast flow at...
Hi All,
I have purchased some new rods over the closed season, a CTX River Tamer rated at 1.5lb and a Barbel Tamer rated at 2lb. I'm very surprised to hold them side by side and not see a noticeable difference between the two rods. I would have expected the barbel tamer to maybe have a few...
Okuma Aventa VT1002 in immaculate condition, no sign of use. Complete with original box and neoprene pouch.
£100 plus postage at cost, or collect from Derby.
Thanks, I've spooled up with 10lb and I'll see how I get on. First impressions are that it's a nice looking rod, hopefully I can put a bend in it over the weekend.

Hi All,
I'm planning to have a few hours freelining/light ledgering with SSG shot for chub tomorrow. I've never done this style of fishing and looking for any tips.
I'm taking a 12ft avon rod with 6lb line. I have a small container with a couple packs of hooks, SSG shot, float stops and a...
I've often thought a moving bait would be better. There's a bit of a problem with crayfish on our stretch so meat is pulled off the hook in certain stretches. I have tried rolling meat with no success, I struggle to feel the bait through the swim but I know I need to practice more.
I'm hoping...
