    Pike record gone !!!!!!!!

Truly stunning beast of a fish, one lucky man! Hats off to the water management team, they have learnt from the other "super" waters that have appeared and disappeared very quickly, abused by pressure, pike do not survive well with constant pressure, their short opening periods obviously works...

    Tench 2023

Major spawning last weekend, fish showing in other areas, but no bites for anyone. A change in the weather coming Sunday to Wednesday, hopefully it might promote some feeding activity, just a matter of location!

    Tench 2023

The weather has seemingly delayed some species spawning activity, except the carp. A 12lb bream caught today was full of spawn, they have usually spawned by now, the perch are hiding, by this time they usually appear and destroy worm baits, no sign as yet. All the Tench are showing no signs of...

    Tench 2023

Early start, lots of fish showing, mainly out of range, but enough closer in to give some encouragement, eventually had a real screamer, no doubt it was an angry carp, long ,tricky scrap resulting in a 20lb 3oz mirror. decided to pack up about 7pm, literally last rod in the water, just about to...

    Tench 2023

Frustrating start this morning, 1st swim choice, just a blanket weed nightmare, 2nd swim much better. Saw a couple roll, game on, had a really fast take shortly after a recast, netted after a good scrap, typical male scrap, 2nd rod screamed off, a much more brutal, dogged scrap, ended up with...

    Tench 2023

Been fishing a large southern pit for a few weeks for nothing, last week was much better, 4 on Tuesday, 2 on Wednesday and 1 Thursday. 0ne 5lber, one 6lber, two 7s, two 8s and a beast of 9lb 14oz, all immaculate but will fatten up a lot, then the wind changed and nothing to follow bar a few...

    !st Tench

At last the cold weather has gone and the tench were very active this morning, showing allover the swim, just a couple of knocks, then 11.30 a solid bite, great scrap and a superb 9lb 5oz male, 15 minutes later, an 8lb 14 oz female followed by a 4lb 14oz little un, and that was it. So nice to...

    !st Tench

Whilst not exactly ideal conditions, just felt a tinca was possible, sure enough, 4.30 this afternoon, a male of around 5lb. Having seen a few whilst piking, they seem to favour one area, residents ,maybe, but nice to get one, took a worm over a sprinkling of hemp.

    Lockdown returns...

Keep local is reasonable, puts the blocks on my Avon Salmon fishing from FEB 1st, but it may change, but in the meantime I have miles of the lower Thames and some pits within 3 miles of my front door, local enough I would think.

    Lockdown returns...

It will all become more transparent soon, seems unlikely fishing will be OK, but who knows, my third dose of furlough, and without fishing it could be very boring!

    Unwritten rule

All of my favorite and productive lower Thames swims have a distinct similarity, they are not accessable from anywhere else, no fear of someone jumping in next door, always a must for my swim choice. I do fish some very popular areas, but I will only fish them with nobody fishing anywhere close...

    Best Fluorocarbon loop knot ?

Double Davy knot is very easy to tie, and gives maximum BS, like that loop knot, I normally use a figure 8

    Luncheon Meat

Had plenty of eel attention using spam, both straight from the tin and heavily curried/garliced, but none using bacon grill, try it, caught plenty of barbel on both, bacon grill is much tougher, but strangely doesn,t seem very effective when dosed in curry/garlic unlike spam. !

Fishing Gloves, please recommend me a pair?

I bought a pair of Snowbee thin neoprenes, only 1mm thick, but I fly fish with them no problem, waterproof too ,so handy for unhooking pike, not mega warm, but enough for me.
