    River Carp, breeding.

An excellent piece Chris. Thank you for sharing. Certainly food for thought. I had considered targeting Ouse carp but I could be waiting a while. I suspect the Foss basin would be an obvious location for them to inhabit out of the floods that and the marina at Naburn, all that flood water and...

    River Carp, breeding.

Cheers Chris, this explains a lot. Having said that there are a few more carp showing on the Ouse in catches not that I've caught one. It made me question where these were coming from and if they were breeding successfully, and if they were then why weren't there more going back over the...

Are they evenly distributed throughout the Stour system or localised?

    River Carp, breeding.

Thanks for your reply. Why is it that they are not more prolific. I live in York and have heard that carp are beginning to show there more frequently but why now in 2019 and not previously. River Carp, breeding.

When the river is not in flood look for swims where the bank drops away almost vertically into the water. In fact these locations depending on the drop might not be suitable in normal conditions for the above reason. This means when in flood you're not having to retrieve your tackle or even a...

    hooklength length???

Trawling through past threads I was looking for thoughts and ideas on hook lengths. I've had success over the years using 6 to 12in hook lengths but then there is this nagging doubt that opportunities could have been missed by fish spooking through line entry detection. In the past I have...

    3 piece barbel rod

Thanks for these suggestions. I tend to fish the North Yorkshire rivers Swale, Nidd, Wharfe, and Ure although I may also travel. I suppose I'm looking for an all rounder although something which can cope with flood conditions would be better.

    3 piece barbel rod

Hi, I now have a smaller vehicle and less room (kids). Could anyone recommend a decent 3 or more piece rod that will fit more easily in my boot?
