There used to be the Waka which was sold on here at one time. They really worked for me. Made a huge difference to my catch rate. Can't get them anymore . I'm trying another brand now had two out the first session with them and thought I was on my way but have caught nothing since🤔 Put in a few...
Thanks Darren. Crayfish are a new one to me it seems they have populated the sections I used to fish 15 20 years ago. I've been out the loop for a while. A lot of anglers cursing them...I understand why horrible looking things they are and they do seem to interfere with hook baits. Does anyone...
A few years ago now I was recommended and sold a Tricast XRS 13ft match for barbel float fishing. I haven't got a clue, does anyone know anything about this rod? I've never used it for barbel fishing but am considering it.
An excellent piece Chris. Thank you for sharing. Certainly food for thought. I had considered targeting Ouse carp but I could be waiting a while. I suspect the Foss basin would be an obvious location for them to inhabit out of the floods that and the marina at Naburn, all that flood water and...
Cheers Chris, this explains a lot. Having said that there are a few more carp showing on the Ouse in catches not that I've caught one. It made me question where these were coming from and if they were breeding successfully, and if they were then why weren't there more going back over the...
Thanks for your reply. Why is it that they are not more prolific. I live in York and have heard that carp are beginning to show there more frequently but why now in 2019 and not previously. The river Ouse to my knowledge was never a carp mecca if ever the odd fish did appear it was put down to...
When the river is not in flood look for swims where the bank drops away almost vertically into the water. In fact these locations depending on the drop might not be suitable in normal conditions for the above reason. This means when in flood you're not having to retrieve your tackle or even a...
Trawling through past threads I was looking for thoughts and ideas on hook lengths. I've had success over the years using 6 to 12in hook lengths but then there is this nagging doubt that opportunities could have been missed by fish spooking through line entry detection. In the past I have...
Thanks for these suggestions. I tend to fish the North Yorkshire rivers Swale, Nidd, Wharfe, and Ure although I may also travel. I suppose I'm looking for an all rounder although something which can cope with flood conditions would be better.
