What's your choice of reel

Love my 4000 OC's. I fish small to medium rivers, using 11' rods, so usually just an underarm cast.
Perhaps 6000's would be better for places like the Trent or Severn.

Daiwa Emblems on my carp rods, Shimano Stradics in all sizes for most else with 6000 X-Aeros for the heavy river work.

Fixed spoolā€¦ Shimano 3500baitrunner, or Okuma Longbow. Shimano aero 810 GTā€s for Pike.

Centrepins.. Gypsy Dā€™or , Rapidex, Free Spirit Searcher , Adcock Stanton, and Rolling
Pin.

Mostly ā€œOld school ā€œ

I'm with IanT, I have FC Match Aerials for all river fishing on small rivers, use the same setup for big rivers, use the same for floods :)

Barbel - on heavier rods / bigger rivers 6000oc which have superceded 6000/8000 GTEs
Glad I upgraded- amazing reels
Chub & lighter barbel - set ups, 3 seasons now with the Cadence CS10 4000 series - beautiful little reels and had plenty of use this season
Light as a feather and lovely to use with tip or float rods
Pike- distance rods are Penn 8000 Affinities / shimano bio masters and another Cadence big pit reel which so far is excellent but only light use to date
Pike river rods are 6000/8000 baitrunners bit of a mixture but all like old slippers - canā€™t see me every changin these as I donā€™t use the baitrunners or clutches but just so familiar with them

Shimano 8000 XTE with the Felindre drag washers fitted that transform a very good clutch to an amazing clutch

Use ss2600 tdr3012 s2553 and for my carp fishing using emcast 5500 & emblem 45scw
Donā€™t tell the Misses šŸ¤£

daiwa ss1000 ā€¦ 80,s version of the 2600 better built
also sometimes use daiwa gs 5000

donā€™t own any shimano,s last pair of shimano reels i owned were the aero 4000 and the line kept going under the spools actually had to handline a barbel in once

SHIMANO 6000oc, 4000oc,6000D, 4000 D.XTRB 6000,8000,10,000 ???
DAIWA GS BR 5000,4000,EMBLEM 5500 ??

Which would you choose ??šŸ¤”
4000ocā€™s on 1.75lb for normal work/conditions
6000ocā€™s on 2.2lb for big flood/13ft 2.5ā€™s Trent Flood

Iā€™ve had Shimano oc reels since 2016 without issue.

SHIMANO 6000oc, 4000oc,6000D, 4000 D.XTRB 6000,8000,10,000 ???
DAIWA GS BR 5000,4000,EMBLEM 5500 ??

Which would you choose ??šŸ¤”
None of the above.

Old Shimano fighting drag reels (Super GT4000) up to 10 lb line; and even older Shimano match 3ā€™s for trotting. I prefer the latter to modern Cadence and Daiwa equivalents.

New Okuma 6000 inc reels for heavy stuff. They are replacing a set of really, really old GT4000 Baitrunners. I might even flog 2x 5500 Ci4ā€™s in favour of the Okumasā€¦.

Okuma pulzar 4000. Had most shimano and daiwa reels going iā€™m a reel tart. Those little Okuma reels for Ā£40 each are just as good as any of the much more expensive daiwas and shimano i own. Have just brought some more for my scopes.

Agreed on the Pulzar, cracking good reel.
