What Scales Please?

Purely in this context Richard, a poor PCB is where the copper track lifts with minimal contact from the soldering iron. A good PCB would need a lot of heat and even then it was hard to do, heat and scalpels were used in conjunction to effect a modification :D

Good or bad defined by the base material coupled with the thickness of copper.

Re RH9000, the battery cover on mine snapped, when replacing the screw. They also started weighing 5oz light at 10lb 😡

I replaced them with these, which have been fine and they are accurate:

Only down side is digital pounds, but I have the brain power to deal with it.

You could always take a spare battery. I assume you did for your head torch before the rechargeable type appeared?

Edit: Or I've completely misunderstood and you mean they're not working for another reason?
Richard, I've had problems with battery-operated ones in freezing conditions. New batteries weren't the solution on that occasion and when both mine and my mates failed we had to borrow some non-digital old-school ones from a nearby angler.

The problem is unless it’s a quality sealed unit moisture can build up inside them. That goes for digital and dial.
Yes your dial gives you a reading but if those springs or needle pivot point has corrosion on them then they may aswell not be working just like if digitals play up. At least you know with digitals as they’ll simply not work.

Just been made aware of these so ordered one, looks a very interesting concept and would save weigh slings, separate scales and if you can unhook the fish while still in the net in the water (appreciate not always possible) even having to use the unhooking mat. May not be accurate to exact ounces but good enough to give a fair estimate to nearest 8 ozs: https://ritetackle.co.uk/product/rite-weigh/

Accurate to within 8oz isnt filling me with confidence

How accurate are any scales Richard unless you can calibrate them before use. I thought with these you can instantly see an approx weight as soon as you lift the net out of the water. If it is a specimen you can use set of more accurate scales carried in rucksac. Otherwise to the nearest 8 ozs is enough info and I have been reliably informed these are very much more accurate than that. Once I start using them I will soon get a feel for how good they are. Not necessary to weigh every fish you catch with sling/mat/scales etc so these would allow fish to go straight back in water. I also have 2 sets of RH Lightweights and a korum electronics but it always worries me particularly with the RH Lightweights how much you have to adjust the dial often by several pounds to re-zero them when you have only used them the day before.

It's a personal choice but I don't weigh anything unless it could be a double, what's the point? But when I'm weighing a double I wouldn't want a leeway of 8oz with the scales, that would drive me mental.
