What reel line?

Has anyone tried Berkley Nanofil yet? Diameters are very fine to breaking strain it is not a mono not a braid apparently. Looks as tho it may have uses.

Brian

I read a review by George Lockhart who tried it for grayling fishing and took it off after the first trip as it did not perform well and kept snapping.

Sorry Brian, that was directed at Dave and his "senior moment"

Ditto, i've landed fish with the line badly shredded, and i'm never worried about piling the pressure on, the only line i use for pike and Barbel fishing. Absolute confidence in it.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

When you find the line that lands fish and stands up to those obviously snaggy swims, but comes back without getting shredded....let me know mate....I will buy the shop's entire stock :p:D:p

Cheers, Dave.

Nanofil shreds if you move shot up and down it , then breaks like cotton. This and its cheesewire affect on hands makes me think is not very abrasion resistant and I would not want a big fish have it rubbed down its flank. As a trotting line it is no better than 6lb crystal.

Hi men,

I have GR60 on the reels for average conditions , and fluro ( Xline or gama ) when I think we need a change .

12lb Big Game in clear,i dont fish/catch much but when i do this has never let me down so no reason to change,gr60 was my only other line i had tried.

I use diawa sensor 12lb its been good for me on the reels that is. i havnt found ewt better yet for the price u cnt go wrong.

You chaps who like Big Game 10lb...I've just taken delivery of a bulk spool [nearly 3000 yds]...cost £4.99 + £1.95 postage from First Class Fishing [Simon Kingdom] of Plymouth...On E Bay....Amazingly quick delivery and line packed and sealed in FIRST CLASS CONDITION...You can't get better value than that I feel.......

Think what a belting cast you could get with that lot though Cliff :p

On a more serious note, the major causes of line deterioration are usually stated as being oxidation and various element of sunlight attacking it. Keeping it in a dark place will obviously take care of the latter, but how you stop oxidation is another matter. Neither do I know if some lines are more prone to this, or how long it lasts before any noticeable deterioration takes if the line is stored in, say, a cool dark place....or indeed if there are better storage options than that?

Anyone have any direct knowledge on those points?

Cheers, Dave.

I wonder if the recent river record holders would tell us what line they use?

Obviously a pm will suffice if they feel the need to offer any further info :)

I use GR60 in the main, but have recently tried (and liked) Sufix Synergy.

Edit: to qualify the above I have GR60 on the baitrunners and Sufix on the 'pins
