What are you favourites hooks?

I wonder sometimes if I actually need a hook...... :(

Joking aside, I bought a job lot of ESP Raptors a few years ago, before they were discontinued. Very similar to the Drennan Barbel hooks. The Raptors are probably my go to hook.

I also have the Bank tackle ones as well.

I've used bank tackle, gardner talon-tips, and korda wide-gapes, and all have straightened when I've had a big fish on - so lost

Hi Richard
try using Gamakatsu teflon coated G-Point hooks. Incredibly strong, 100% won't straighten and stay very sharp. The only hook I now use when after Barbel.

Another vote for the Bank Tackle wide gape barbless (10s & 8s). Also a good source for swivels, PVA bag clips etc.

For float fishing I use Kamasan Animal spades mostly size 8 for cubed meat. Look for ebay sellers doing deals on multi packs e.g. 5 x packs of 10 hooks if you cannot get them at your local retailer.

Guru super xs hooks, so sharp, best maggot hooks i have found for specimen fishing. Not the strongest, but the sharpest.

Check out bank tackle.....they have many hooks on their website...used them for 2 yrs now and they are brilliant.....super sharp and many patterns available. For fishingbthe lead or feeder.....for float fishing drennan super spade
Another vote from me for the Bank Tackle wide Gape. Recently they have added a proper size 10. The old size 10 was really an 8. They're strong and very sharp. What's not to like? The Gardner Specimen hooks in size 10 are also very reliable. 👍

That is good to know. Do they do a 12?

I bought some 10's a few years ago. Very good hooks, but as you say - they were 8's.

I don't think they do Joe. Gardner do a 12 in their Target Specibeaked point range but it isn't such a tough looking hook as the 10 which I have used quite a bit. I wouldn't personally recommend the 12 in that range though I've not used the ones I bought.

I'm interested to know what everyone's favourite hooks are and in what sizes...

I'll kick things off with the drennan wide gape specialist in a size 8 or 6. I use them because they are cheap and sharp (and I'm one of those things too...). They are quite small for their quotes size

Looking for a good hook in size 2 and 4 if anyone has any recommendation
Nash Fang in size 10, Nash Claw in sizes 10, 8 and 6.

For maggots and other small baits Gardner 12 and 14s

I’ve just got some more off Alli express they are ok & I’ve got a seasons worth for £7 😁 before that it was Bank tackle I won’t pay fat Dans prices 😜 they all come from China

I'm quite enjoying the Korda Kaptor, kurv shanks and chod hooks, I got from The Fishing Outlet for 49p per pack of 10 plus free delivery... think I bought enough to last me out 😉
