Packed all the kit in the boot this morning. Rod, landing net and pole, kit bag, tea, and sarnies. Off i go, 1 hour up the road got my kit out of the car and started to look for a lightly peg to fish the river from. Found a nice looking Chubby spot. Chucked in some small bits of curry flavored Spam and straight away i could see some moment in the water. Thinking this was going to be my lucky day i quietly started to set up. Everything set up and was just getting the rod ready only to find i had left all my newly tied hook links at home. What a prat.
After driving back home which took ages due to the A27 gridlocked. Opened my front door,walked into the front room and there they were sitting in plain sight on the dining table. Ready for me when i went out.
Out again tomorrow but double checking my kit first.

What have you forgotten ?
 
Landing net, I'd put it on the van roof when loading up, oddly enough it wasn't still there on my arrival. Lost somewhere on the A64 I suspect. Not having a rear view mirror in my van I didn't see it go.
 
This isn't the first time ive done this. About 3 years ago got to the Hampshire Avon with no rod. 4 hours round trip
 
A lad I know went to France carping for a week. When he got there he got his gear out and his rods had snapped on the way there
 
I forgot my landing net a couple of weeks ago on a quick evening session. I had left it out the back drying from a previous session. As I was only there for about an hour and a half, I didn't want to go back as that would leave me with an hours fishing at best.
So I sat on the chair and watched the water for a while contemplating borrowing a net or unhooking a carp in the water. Both stupid ideas. Then I had an idea. I tied up a couple of rigs with really greedy pig rigs (5 x 15mm boilies) running leads and cast out. I had a screamer within 15 mins that stopped as I sat back on my chair laughing out loud.

No need for a net; I hadn't tied any hooks into the rigs!
 
Ditto Gavin. No landing net when I unpacked on the Nidd so contemplated using my tracker Armo sling (which has two strengthening rods in it) for about five seconds before driving to a mates house and borrowing his match net. Good job as the 8lb+ barbel was still a b***er to land!
 
Arrived on an after work session at the Ouse at Ravenstone in the 1990's without any bait,managed to catch a barbel on a piece of mars bar.About 10 years ago arrived at Coulthrop on the Kennet (again after work) without any rods,fed my bait and went home,Poop happens.

Forgotten landing net a couple of times and all my bait once...that was a very short session. And Ian, I was caught in the A27 gridlock earlier - Very bad accident westbound, didn't look good for the vehicles occupants.

Surely quicker to tie a couple of new hook rigs on the bank Ian!
 
I've forgotten bait more than once but worse was arriving at the Cherwell one summers evening, getting all the gear out of the back of a hatchback and promptly slamming the tailgate onto the rod, which suddenly became a three piece!
 
Usually forget something every time I go. Club tickets are a favourite, landing net, unhooking mat, floats when float fishing etc etc.
 
I went on a trip with the lads many years ago, got there, found I had left the rod bag at home.....rods, landing net & handle, bank sticks, you name it, all sulking and feeling left out back in the garage :D

Nowadays, age has meant that I am actually astonished if I get to the bank and find I haven't forgotten something vital.

Left the river Lateish one evening recently. Drove about 5-6 miles and for some reason suddenly thought that I hadn't seen my Fox Specialist Brolly loaded into the car. Stopped to check and sure enough no brolly. Drove the 5+ miles back, down the track and there it was laying in the car park. Problem is I had ran it over on leaving, the ribs (fibreglass) stood the test but the centre pole assembly was bent like a banana :mad:
 
I've got a list of items to put in the car before a session,the problem for me is I sometimes forget to read the list,senility is creeping up fast.
 
Just off out to The Wye now, I'm making a list, I'm checking it twice, gonna find out-------------Oh that's been done.
Iain like most people I forget something most trips, have double checked today following your timely post.
