WANTED - 3 OR 4 PIECE QUALITY BARBEL ROD -

If you put them on a salmon fishing forum they would sell for good money (upwards of £100).

They are ‘the’ rod for salmon worm fishing, apparently.

I have a John Wilson Avon travel rod.
Quiver and Avon top.
Excellent condition in codura Tube.
£100 collected Ross on Wye
 
Some went on here for £170 each last year... in demand I guess.

Why so few three piece rods any more? Cost more to make ?

I guess 3 is not popular between river anglers? Not so easy for make up rods compare to 2pcs.

I prefer the 4pcs, easy to carry in the car or bike, when you get to the bank, you can put it into 2 pcs for roving.
 
Probably right, I had a 3 piece 9ft harrison stalker - was a nightmare to pack up, ended up walking with a 9ft stick in front of you. Tend to use a 2 piece 10ft on small rivers roving about now.

which 10ft are you using? I am looking for one myself as well. Is it Harrison stalker?
 
I’ve done both

8ft Korum opportunists my current roving favourite

Always used to carry my tryptch made up and just fold into 3 for roving and putting in the boot of the car ready for a quick splash and dash.
Never found the 3 pieces a problem

I suppose it’s horses for courses and 1 mans meat is another’s gravy.

There’s an art to it.
I pack all my 3 piece float rods up fully made up ready to go. It’s just a case of using the bottom ring leg of the Tip section to place the hook. Then drop each section down in order and band top middle and bottom
 
@Tim Speller link above is for harrison no 2 specialist 3 piece rod built by kev baynes. Don't know what test curve is but at £80 maybe worth a punt as kevbis a very good rod builder whom I think has now retired 👍

There’s a trick to that too.
When you drop your rig down off the 3 sections all banded together, push the hook and line through the big eye then take it back up the sections and again just latch it onto a ring leg.
