Upstream or downstream if fishing in a group?

For interest - If you were to fish in a group, say of three people would your preference be to be upstream, downstream or in the middle?
I've got my own opinion, but I'm interested to hear what people have experienced

A mate and I have doubled up in a swim quite a few times this year and out of the 7 bites we've had between us; 6 have come to the upstream rod. Not conclusive in anyway but backs up my theory that upstreaming is the best presentation on a river.

Upstream I always do better this way when sharing a peg and it also suits the way I fish

Downstream .. first peg intercept the fish and hold them in your swim . That's how I used to match fish .. unless of course the swims above have fish holding features etc

Ash do you find also like me that the bigger fish tend to come from the upstream rod? Mate

Are we talking all 3 on the same peg or on 3 pegs next to each other? Either way I’d probably rather be downstream unless i knew the pegs and knew which one was best lol. If all on same peg the middle would probably be my last choice

I’d always offer the option to my friend’s first and take whatever was left.
however down stream would allow me to pull out the float rod if they insisted i choose first.
