The PB thread

I know it's not everything, but your PB barbel is something that will be with you for the rest of your life. To most it's a special event in an angling career that gives an immense sense of satisfaction and achievement.

This thread is here to record that special moment and should in theory be a log and ongoing record of BFW member personal best catches.

I'll start with my current PB, a 14lb 3oz Bristol Avon barbel caught January 2008.

Why not add your current/new PB photo here...I hope I'm adding another photo later this year!

mines ,is 12lbs 6oz ,from the wrong side of inglby ,on the upper trent (drac water) ,sorry no picture ,some fool got over excited and with trembling hands unhooked & weighed the fish ,rested it as he calmed himself down then released it ,allowed himself a cup of tea too celebrate sat down in his chair too saviour the moment .jumped too his feet dropping his half drunk cup of tea, slapped himself on his ever increasing forehead "photo's !!" slumps back into chair laughing as he scorns himself.

Brilliant idea Andy, and you can see its popularity already ! :D

Are you going to pin it ?

Fantastic fish, chasing fish like these is the very reason I go barbel fishing. I have caught nothing like these monsters but the urge to catch one is my drive, my incentive and total angling ambition. Very motivating thread Andy

Ray, is that from the good old days of Adams/Kickles?

Of course..The heaviest this one achieved was 19.6. I caught it at 18.13.8 around 3 months after it came out as the British Record (19.6) and to where i thought it should possibly weigh 20'ish when in the net, but it had dropped weight probably due to the cold 3 months leading up to the milder spell when I winkled it out, rolling a single piece of meat with no prebaiting or baiting up.

My PB of 12lb 9oz looks a tiddler compared to some of the fish here. Caught it from Warks Avon and one of the easiest I've ever caught. Bait in for 10 mins then screaming run. I remember seeing it rise after a several minutes and thinking bloody hell. I knew it was PB and still the biggest Barbel I've seen in the flesh. Now living on the banks of the Avon and hoping a new PB is just around the corner. Sorry, **** photo but I don't get enough practise snapping doubles :(

Lee as i said in that 'other' thread, the size of a big fish is relavant to the river you catch it from, it's a stunning fish mate ( i can see through a photo )
and you caught it, and thats all that matters, well done :)

Ian.

Ash
at least my smallest was on an unhooking mat!:)
