The need to apportion blame

The Pellet Fly is attributed to Richard Walker, who introduced it was a joke (and probably as an admonition to clueless, stillwater stockie-trout bashers who wanted to take as many recently introduced pellet-fed fish as possible) about forty years ago. He doubtless got the idea from the way an American fly that had taken the international flyfishing world by storm in the 1960s was made, the Muddler Minnow fly / lure / streamer. Not otter fur, but..........

PS - my biggest brown trout on a "dry fly" was taken from a Chilean river on a home-tied deerhair Mouse, complete with tapered leather (bootlace) tail, black bead eyes and suede ears - 14 pounds it went, and it did go on a 9-foot 6-weight fly rod weighing just 3.25 ounces!
