The final week......

Hi chaps,

With the final week upon us, I was wondering who is going to be mad enough and brave the freezing weather we are due? I had 2 days booked off for a final fling on the Loddon but looks like I've booked it a week too late!

Devastated doesn't even begin to describe my misfortune :(

Neil, if you,ve got the time off, just get out there. I was in a similar situation to yours a few seasons ago. I,d booked the time off and it started snowing, it was minus 5%. Me and a good mate, decided to go, and thank god we did. I had my PB chub, 5lb 8oz. It was actually snowing at the time. We were frozen stiff. But that fish kept me glowing all day. If your not there, it can,t happen. Good luck if you do.

Il be out regardless the weather its better been on the bank than been at work or been at home lol the last week already its come round too quick

Planned to go tomorrow (Sun 10th Mar) but the forecast is for 4 degrees C with strong wind chill factor resulting in an effective -1 deg C!

The water temp has risen 6 degrees F in the last week which is a plus so I might just sneak out for a few hours around lunchtime and see what happens. Will have to be home in time to cook roast dinner though as it is Mother's day.

Good luck to all for the last week.

I agree with the previous opinions, "a bad day's fishing is better than a good day's work".
The conditions are unfortunately not what i desired & i will be out chasing chub with perhaps a day on a lake going for pike (that's if it's not frozen over).
Anyway to all who venture out next week...Tight Lines.

Kind Regards
Andy

I've been blanking pretty much since November, during the half dozen sessions I've managed. A couple more will do no long-term damage to my confidence and sense of self-worth. As has been suggested, better being on the bank even if the barbel aren't feeding.

Good luck to all who venture out..... :)

I just wanted to celebrate the spirit running through this thread. It really is great to see. A couple of weeks back I ventured out in conditions that normally would have kept me at home chewing furniture. Highlight was a double figure (just!) barbel caught mid afternoon in near freezing conditions on a stretch that does not often produce during daylight. As long as you are warm and dry and have a bait in the water, you just never know. Of course, I followed that small success with a couple of blanks in conditions that looked spot on! Thank heavens for the unpredictability of fishing.

Good luck if you are out.

Buy some maggots, bust out the float rod and go fishing !!!! Chub will feed as will Dace and Roach ! Beats sitting behind motionless Barbel Rods !!!
I will have one more bash no matter what !!!

I'll be glad to see the back of this season, the worst one I can remember. Roll on some warmer weather and back to the tench!

I have to work, and even if I didn't I think watching the racing would beat trying to fish in Arctic conditions every time!

Last chance

Thursday will be my next outing regardless of weather;) always a chance if your there;)

tight lines everyone this week;)
