Hi, just curious to what sort of rods people are using when fishing the Thames , do you step up to higher tc or is 1.75 lb tc suitable ?

I use 1.5’s I actually bought a pair of 2lb rods specifically for the Thames about a year ago, haven’t used them. Love my 1.5’s.

Depends entirely on conditions, and how far and the weight you're casting, Barbel wise... ( considering I use a 2oz quiver when feeder fishing bread mash for Roach or Chub, ) ... anything from 1.5lb TC to 2.5lb TC, The happy medium is entirely your choice, I've got a Harrison Torrix with twin tops of 1.75lb & 2.0lb built by Bob Gill, it's ideal for any situation that I'd fish in, but then I wouldn't want to punch 8oz 50 yards into a raging torrent if you get my drift ! ( pardon the pun ) !

Like any river Chris I’d say it really depends how much water it’s got on.
Test curves might give you a general idea but they are a very vague guide at best.
Choose your rod by its action and the manufacturers guide on power regarding casting weight and line strength for the conditions you want to tackle the river in.
