Yep, thats a cracking set of brown trout Graham; think i recognise that spot as well. Not that ive fished it mind. ;)

Stunning fish, Graham. I'm also chasing brownies in a few weeks, of the rare and wild ferox variety, in Ireland. One or two of that size would make me extremely happy. Mind you, they can go to thirty pounds plus over there...

Hope all is well. JB

Good Luck with your fishing Guys. These were both over 8lb. I also lost one that was over 10lb after a 20 min fight when it managed one unexpected last minute jump as I was drawing it to the net.

Jon, have a great time with the Ferox that do look unbelievable in the TV bits I have seen. It's trawling with a big deadbait mainly I think and a ball weight to get it down. Must be exciting.

A Nice Grayling. 2.7lb

It is indeed trolling Graham; I spent five years obsessed with them, cost me a flat and a good woman they did - and so I'm going to Ireland to do it all again. happily, a publisher is paying for me to do it this time, and the current good woman is coming with me..so the damage may be minimised if I get bitten by feroxide again.

Graham,
lovely Trout pics,i think that Tatty and i caught the very same fish ;)
lovely stretch & and a lovely host

Fantastic fish Graham, i'd be over the moon to see one half that size on one of my little north west rivers! Well done mate! :)

Cheers.

Andy, you can only catch what's available in your local rivers. One half the size from your is possibly a bigger/more valued fish

Graham

not really from the Test but quite close to the River Dever and more rainbow than brown but hey!

8lb 3oz was the biggest the others ranged from 7lb 8oz to 4oz 10. My best day with a fly rod ever (i've only been three time tho.....)

Graham et al,

Just back from a week in Ireland, chasing ferox. Managed three days and two brief mornings when the wind abated enough to get afloat - five ferox over 6 pounds, two of which were doubles to 12.08, and on the final morning a surprise pike of just over 20. And a lot of Guiness. A big lot.

If I can figure out how, I will post some pictures. Can't wait for August, and more feroxide in the Highlands.

best,

Jon

Jon,

That is a beautiful beast mate; looks like it was worth the effort, and having to suffer all that guiness as well you poor thing. :D

Would you mind if i pass the pic onto the lads; be a good talking point at the next meeting if you can make it.

all the best mate and well done.:)

Paul

Hi Paul,

Please do mate. The pic is of the 11, but there are others of the 12, as well as the smaller fish - and the pike. I hope to be at the next meeting, give me a nudge when it is coming up, you know what I'm like!

cheers

Jon
