Tackle that has gone up in value

Yes. I have two original Hardy Marksman 14ft float rods.
At £175. One unused.

I regret not getting one of the original 14ft Marksman specialist rods when they were on offer. Having handled one subsequently it felt like a much lighter and better balanced rod then my 14ft GTI. Missed the boat on that one.

I’ve got a few Paul Witcher reels that I’m hoping have increased in value although they so rarely come up for sale that it’s hard to judge. Mind you they do get used a bit and can’t ever imagine selling them.
Howard, The Bisterne is the one that everybody wants but they all climbing in value

Bob There’s a mint Tench float on eBay at the moment on bids & it’s upto £155 + £10 postage still a day to go...😮
A well used one last week made £130 + £15 postage
The classic Drennan stick float rods fetch mental money as well. Not sure if they were spliced tips or not I can’t remember but extremely sought after rods.

I'd be very wary of current ebay prices for fishing gear. Lots of folk sitting at home with nothing much to do has seen things go a little doolally. I routinely watch the prices of all sorts of different rods, stuff from the 80s right up to current, including those I already own. Some things are doing an awful lot better than I would have expected, others not so well. Fairly recent gear seems to be suffering, but some older gear seems to be selling for relatively high prices. It would suggest that there's some serious nostalgia driven purchasing going on.

Yeah I’ve noticed exactly the same. I put some snap on tools on there that haven’t been used in donkeys years and while they always fetch big money anyway some of my listings went through the roof

Back in my teaching days, I worked with a lovely elderly teaching assistant for 2 years on the bounce, the second year was her retirement year. She was lovely, like a second Nan, but a bit of a hoarder. Mid summer hols, I went in to do some bits in the classroom. Whilst sorting out the art resources, I found an Ice cream tub full of washing up liquid bottles amongst lots of other squirrelled away nonsense. Probably 100 in there and three quarters were the ‘retro’ type. She’d obviously been saving them from the bottles by the classroomsink (for her whole 40+ year career, by the looks).

I chucked them away and forgot about the whole thing until the other day, when I saw on the Ringwood Forum that they reach a fiver a pop at Vintage Tacke Fairs...

I'm a great fan of Drennan float rods and have a few Tench, Super Tench and one stick float. I've more or less given up using them now in favour of my 13' Acolyte plus compact for 'normal' fishing and a Carp waggler for Salmon, trotting shrimp. Just love the Compact concept.
The older rods will be appearing on Ebay before long, if anyone is keen to own one drop me a PM.
Will be first in the queue for an Acolyte Avon if and when they start making them.

Just checked out £155 “original tench float rod”..........turns out to be one of the later versions with the different graphics and single leg guides, there is an original model listed as well which has reached £62 (albeit with a missing a liner in one of the guides)
I’ve got an original one plus a later version plus other Drennan rods and wouldn’t part with any of them, great rods.

I have a mate who has a pair of drennan 12’10” barbel specialists with the different tips one of them is unused...... (and for sale)

Keep hold of them Ady , the one I mentioned was a very early one , there are some very avid ABU collectors out there
The old 6000 Ambassadeurs are beautiful reels Mike. Very collectable. Trouble is, they were mostly right hand wind, but were well engineered in Sweden.

Have you seen how much the original Fox Replicants sell for ...£50 or more!!!! Why?
They were made out of a different patented material Alan. The originals, if they survived the ravages of Pikes teeth have a perceived better action than the latest offerings. Indeed I've caught on them when I've had a livo swimming about next to where I was fishing the replicant. They were that good!

Spiced tip I've two .One is brand new never been used.Priceless to me. I have an early Drennan Tench for sale if any one on here wants it pm me am offer.
Fox kelvars I bought one for £100 and the other was part of a insurance claim for a smashed pole so that's sort of free.!
I have a number of belglow floats never used which cost shillings and they are probably going for 20x their original price.
But the memories all those rods and tackle have created are priceless

Used a Drennan Stick float rod for a while. Nice. In fact it dealt with my one and only Ivel Barbel, about 8lb. Apparently for really light lines, malecowexcrement.

Another one that has reached silly prices, the Drennan tench floats, the body down and very thin long peacock stem in a dark blue.
