Sooo what did Santa bring you?

Me? all I had was a pair of slippers, I am afraid Christmas was a bit of a non event as one of our 'boys' is in Hospital with a contagious bug, so me and the missus have been in self imposed isolation...which for the first time in many a year it was just the two of us...actually it was quite relaxing. But I did miss having the family around, but the slippers are nice, the missus got me a pair with memory foam on the inside, she reckons it might help me with my forgetfulness :rolleyes:

So go on cheer me up what essential new gear did Santa get you?
 
Hi men,

A woolly ESP jumper so i can pretend to be Terry Hearn , and a carp society membership so i can return to Horseshoe lake at some point soon .

Neil- that’s totally shite and I feel for you. That must be hard on the family and really hope everything works out OK and soon!

Other than for the child, we abandoned presents this year and instead donated the money we typically spend to charity. This saved Mrs C from the typically fraught experience of finding fishing themed gifts. Over the years the link to angling has become ever more tenuous making fishing the gift that got fed up of continuing to give.

It’s also saved me from my usual late Christmas Eve panic attack as I drive like a maniac trying to find a petrol station that’s still open so I can get those all important stocking fillers. The de-icer mitten never fails to impress provided you get it in the right colour. There can be accusations about a “lack of effort” but I’m usually having to fill up with petrol at the same time because of the miles I’ve covered. Anyway, is click and collect any more meaningful or thoughtful? This argument typically fails spectacularly.

Cheers H, what a fantastic gesture from you, it was indeed a quiet Christmas, but the circumstances we're odd to say the least, son has IBD and recieves hospital treatment onceca month, the last treatment brought about a TB infection , needless to say we were gobsmacked, I thought the disease had been eradicated years ago, but alas it has made a comeback.
My late Mum had the disease when I was a baby, at that time it was seroius and deaths were common, but she survived, albeit losing a lung, but lived to a good age.
Seeing hospital staff working so hard at Christmas is very humbling, and really puts things into perspective.

P.S. A litre bottle of JD, case of Boddingtons draught, A chili challenge, 3 different bottles, one mild, one hot, and one called (melt your hoop ring) :eek: Just put half a dozen loo rolls in the fridge, and a buckets worth of ice in the freezer. :D

Santa didn't bring me anything, but I did treat myself to a Preston Carbonactive 15' Excel that was on eBay, looking forward to some trotting action when the rivers settle down!

Hopefully, getting to the Chinese supermarket in the next day or two, ( for my chili challenge), tray of prawn sui mai , bag of duck spring rolls, some wanton char sui scouse noodle soup, and a pack of 50+ age bag of pampers. Fingers crossed, I run out of snacks, before the dam gives way. :D:eek::D

Nothing so treated myself to a pair of the new drennan twin tip duos on a eBay discount (got them for £80 each delivered) to hopefully finally replace my river and streams.
 
Managed to persuade santa to bring me a drennan specialist duo twin tip. No idea why as I haven't fished for barbel for two seasons now. Better than getting socks though.

I'm off today ( tonight ), first time for over a month, being a cabbie, you've got to get it while you can.
Had a lot to put up with mind, the worst are the once a year drinkers, 4 sherbets and a kebab, not a pleasant sight. Especially, if it ends up in the back of your cab. OR, as a mate once had, all over the back of his head/neck. :eek::D:D:D:eek:
