Jon - the cast you describe is, I think, the Nottingham cast. I've been using it for years as it can get me at least half way across the rivers I fish. Usually, however, I catch most often very near the bank. The Wallis takes a bit of practice!

Same here ...so I went down the Rolling Pin route

I have one but find it just a little small. The Lewtham Quest is bigger but doesn't look as nice.
