slim blank

No your not missing anything...

Its a personal thing. I loved my ESP distance rods and they were very thin blanks.

The rods I have now are just not to my liking, they play barbel perfectly but I just prefer a thin blank.

Some people prefer a centre pin other a cork handle, my bag is a thin blank :)

I like the sound of the Kelly Brook Barbel rod on a blank that fires blanks ;)

John:D

I'll say it again then Freespirit I have the Tamer 1.75 SU very slim. I'm pretty sure of all the rods I have seen on the bank Freespirit seem the thinnest to me.

I will thank you Clive for your reply ;)

Maybe another point of interest regarding 'slim' blanks. The thickness (and weight) of the walls can vary, so your slim blank may have thicker walls and be heavier than say a thicker (larger diameter) blank that has thinner walls.
The 1.75 Chimera 2 is generally of lower external diameter than the Torrix 1.75. However, the Torrix has thinner walls and is actually lighter in weight.
Some actual weights of blank sets taken a couple of years ago:

Chimera2 = 150g
12' 1.75 Torrix = 124g
11' 1.75 Torrix = 122g (thinner external diameter than 12' Torrix)
Bfw i-power with 1.75 tip = 127g
Bfw i-power with 2.00 tip = 130g

Obviously these weights can vary (around 5%) at times and so can the external diameters.

Good post Bob, having owned 12 Foot Torrix and now I-Powers, I could instantly tell that the I-Power was a 'Heavier Blank'. BUt then that's what I like..............Feels SO powerful.........
Rod choice is very personal and we all like different actions etc.

I’ve got a pair of Free Spirit Hi-s Specialist 1.75tc SU 12ft. These are a very slim blank but are a very soft rod in my opinion. They bend like hell with a barbell on but once the butt kicks in it seems to do the job. There a really nice rod to play a fish on. You feel so much. There also good for using small hooks.

Clive do you find the Tamer SU a soft rod too or is it just the Specialist??. I’ve been thinking about selling a Specialist to finance a Tamer but if there’s not a lot of difference I’ll just stick with what I’ve got.

So long as you don't do a Lisa Riley range Bob....I don't think they would be what John wanted at all. Immagine a pair of those in your rod bag :D

Cheers, Dave.

Just think of the power when the butt kicks in!!

Stephen I'd class my Tamer as soft through action as well.

what Test Curve is the Tamer SU ?

and you have 2 for sale Clive? :D

they seem a very reasonably priced rod. Clive.

If you can find them.

Read recently that Kelly Brook is single again after her numpty boyfriend was engaging in unsavoury texting with a loose woman. Anyway, I have sent her a message of support and a picture of my new Bob Gill built rod. I am hoping she will be impressed and proud of the association and the fact that me, and many more of my BFW friends, are prepared to stand firmly behind her in what will be a difficult time.

Numpty indeed Howard! What is it with these guys and loose women? I find the opposite far more attractive. I am also with you on the idea of standing firmly behind Ms Brook....in fact I believe I would be outstanding in that position. I really think you are right about our helping this dear girl come to terms with her problems. I think we should put it to her and see how she feels Howard.

Cheers, Dave.
