Severn Rivers Trust - River Severn Conference

See here for the latest details

Previously posted in the events for other organisations sections which i can no longer find...if it still exists please move this to there!

To be finally confirmed, so don't take it as gospel.
Dr Mark Everard - AT and author, expert on silver fish (and much else)
Matt Hayden, Natural England cormorant licensing man (very brave man!)
Dafydd Evans EA Area manager on the Water Framework
These three are the main speakers/panellists as we hope the day will be mainly a panel type discussion rather than just formal speeches. They cover the issues identified by the major angling clubs on the Severn identified at meetings between them and the SRT. Predation, the WFD and decline in silver fish. Obviously any other issues can be raised.
hopefully Budgie Price and Trevor Harrop from the Hampshire Avon project. We have yet to confim these and really hope they can come and do a presentation. Anyone who has met these two and seen what they have done down on the Avon knows how important the work they have done is and how some of it could be of great value on the Severn. If you haven't met them, then you should!
Tony Bostock SRT will chair and answer questions.

We were hoping that Matt Hayes and Dave Harrell could also attend as acknowledged "experts" on fishing the Severn, but sadly are not available.
Representative of all the clubs on the Severn should be there.

I'll be there, and I've circulated it amongst the clubs committee.

You may even persuade me to sign the club up to the SRT......;):D

Steve
Hope you do Steve. It is my view and this is shared by the other trustee's, that angling clubs should form the core of environmental protection on the rivers. We have also been able to assist clubs with grants for access work and other environmental protection work recently, particularly on the Teme where I know your club has recently taken on some very nice bits of water. A couple of clubs are also now involved in fly life monitoring through the training and resources provided by the SRT.

It was, after all, angling clubs and riparian owners coming together through the Teme fisheries group that got the SRT off the board.

The formal agenda will be circulated in the near future, but speakers who have already agreed to present include Dr. Mark Everard (Author of The Complete Book of the Roach and Barbel River to name but two of his books), Dafydd Evans (Area Manager - Environment Agency), Matt Haydon (Natural England), Trevor Harrop & Budgie Price (Avon Roach Project).
There will also be a presentation by Dave Mason, well known to most on this site.

We now have eighty individual registered to attend. Twenty more places left, so any one interested should register soon.
There will be no admittance to those not registered on the day I am afraid due to the venues insurance requirements.
To register follow the instruction here.

Looks great Pete. Looking forward to it.

Fact that you can't copy and paste text from the website is absolutely maddening though !

You can download anything you need though Will. Copy and pasting is disabled.

Why strange Will? Just how I build 'em. Stops a lot of abuses.
Copy and pasting (and then re editing a bit) and pinching images is fine maybe on discussion boards but not on web sites such as that one. Everything is made available for users as downloadable files that appropriate.
As you will see, one of your photographs is there, for which I asked and you kindly gave permission to use. It cannot be pinched (without at least some skill...) so can't be re used without your permission.
Great photo by the way, one of my favourite barbel photos of the year.

I think what Will is thinking is that the event would be better publicised if the details could be directly copied and pasted more easily by others to help place on other angling etc. website forums directly and encourage a bigger audience and attendance, and not by a small 'in house' link which is more so ignored, than instant 'in your face' like billboard. It is to help and beneficial to promoting the Severn Rivers Trust and Conference . It would give you and the event more publicity and advertising which is what you need and the overall objective to make everyone aware... I think.
Just copy and paste the detail conference 'text' on here yourself, like all others do to make it easier viewing, and no one will nick or abuse anything from your own website!

Please note that we are now oversubscribed for the conference and due to fire and health and safety regulations will be unable to accept any further registrations.

You will not be able to register on the day under any circumstances.
Looking forward to seeing all those registered next Saturday.

I'll be there Pete, already formulating a list of rich people who can afford to buy me drinks, Mick, John, Scuba, Will.......

Robbo, Thanks for the offer of a lift but I'll have to meet you there. No way I can squeeze all my work stuff into the back of your Jag.

Doesn't your work stuff consist of a rod, reel and a mobile phone Will?
Must be a small Jag.....

I don't bother with the work mobile any more during office hours Pete. Kept getting business calls while I was playing a fish.

Yes, it's the top of the range one, tiny inside (and hopeless when it's full of John's golf clubs) but I heard earlier he'll have the Range Rover back in time for Saturday so no problem, we'll just get his driver to run us over to the conference.
