Sad news....is this the same Steve from Here?

Don't think so looking at Steve's profile (on here). Age, location are different and BFW Steve was on the forum earlier today.

That said, still a shock and hope the Steve that has gone missing is found.

Hi men,

Yes I had a message asking me about him , but like Howard it did not look quiet right , and as we are talking about someone's welfare I did not know wether to post or not .

Sad news I have known Steve for many years, He fished Lower Benyons Upper Benyons and for many years was the Bailiff on The Thatcham Angling club stretch at Padworth. He was fishing The Lower Benyons last Friday when he went missing. Not an easy access as you have to cross on foot the main Reading to west country rail line. Just hope they find him safe and well.

Regards Ray Thorpe

Thats terrible. I was chatting to him most of friday on the lower........

I even remarked to another chap as we got back to the car park in wigmore lane that he was pushing it a bit re times to pack in.

I will contact the police.

Awful. feel sick.

Very sad news.

I was a few miles upstream Friday evening and the wind was very strong.

Lets hope he is ok,Steve has been a barbel fisherman for a very long time. I used to see him on the Bristol avon over 20 years ago and more recently on the Kennet

Worrying news. Echoing everyone's sentiments, hopefully he'll be found alive and well.

I hope he is found fit and well but it is not looking hopeful with the report stating his gear was found unattended. I'm probably as guilty as most on here of fishing flooded rivers without a life belt, a stark reminder for us all.

A very familiar face on the Lower Benyons, almost a permanent fixture, he tends to fish the same swim for months. Tragic and not looking good.
